What wheel size/tyre combo are you using ?......if your running 40 series tyres on a 16" or 17" rim it dosent have to be a deep pot hole to s*** up the wheel as I ve found out to my cost in the past.
Yes but would you really want to drive around in one of the ugliest cars ever made Clio1400 ;) Id rather crawl on my face to the shops than drive that !
Rang some insurance companys today and yes Norwich Union were by far the cheapest........Churchills wouldnt touch me in this high performance car there words untill I turn 30.
Its going in for the big 36k service next week, if they can fit me in , so they said theyd look more into it then by ringing up Reno hq

Under 500 quid youd be lucky been ringing round all day today and the best I got was £510 with a £410 excess with Norwich Union no one else could get within £50 of that and Im 28 with clean everything living in one of the lowest car crime areas in the country !!!
Went for a MOT today at the local Reno dealer. They tested the headlights like they do and found that when you put main beam on [ full lights ] the normal lights, the outer lights on the twin headlight set up, go out they didnt know if this was nornal or not as mine is the first mk1 172 to be...

You might have been able to pick up a WRX for the same price as the FRS but at the end of the day the RS will p*** all over it when it comes to depreciation......dont forget there was only 4500 odd RSs made and thats including Europe
Just lend the car to your girlfriend for the week. Youll find by Friday the logo has magically been rubbed off as well as most of the outer edge of the rim ! job done ;)
Got my renewal through from Direct Line and my premiums gone up £20 even though everythings the same as last year !!.......think there having a laugh.... 28, 11 years NCB, clean licence, no points and living in rural Scotland £620 protected........does an 11 year unblemished driving record count...

Theres one in the Dumfries area [ Scotland ] . could have had one for an extra £300 over the standard 172 but didnt like the green colour.
As for performance they are the slowest of all the 172s due to the extra cow hide and those heavy BBS rims ;)
Probably depends on your attitude when when you turn up at the dealers.
If say your chewing gum, whereing a baseball cap and hooded top and go in and just say "can I have a test drive in that" then obviosly the dealers not going to take you seriously. Where as if you turn up looking smart...
Every car Ive owned has had a minor problem and theyve all been new cars....mainly Fords......this is my first Reno and its been the best out the lot.....only got 2 very minor rattles and I have to say my dealership has been nothing short of excellent with any queries I have with the car...
You wont find a cheaper to run hot hatch than the 172 on a performance per mpg scale.....I can drive mine like a loon and it never dips below 30mpg and averages on normal driving 37 to 42 mpg. cheap to service too.
welcome by the way
Pete you seem to be the only one who has a problem with the 172 on motorways....Im not being abusive I just cant belive what youve bought a hot hatch for..... did you think the suspension would be soft ?.....In the press reports it actually praises the 172s maners on long journeys.......and as...
Listen Pete I drive all over Scotland with the footie team visit my mate in Wakefield, regularly go down to Bimingham all from Dumfries and Ive never had a problem with the 172 being tiring or it tramlining.....think your best selling it, buy a Jag smoke a pipe and wear some carpet slippers that...
Just done a search on Telegraph motoring and theyve got your car valued at £10500 so it would seem Reno are offering you £500 over book. not too bad that though Id still try some where else to see if you can get the price down any further. youve nothing to lose.
You should be able to get about a grand off the asking price if you play one dealer off another oh yes and drop in the old car supermarket prices as well..... worked for me I got £1250 off the Mk1 from a Reno dealer.
