this was never mentioned, so if a health check saw the exhaust to be ok at i year and it deteriorated in the next month or so then magnex would just say the system was ok when checked so is still deemed to be good until the next yearly check
i fitted 1 to my mk2 but the fixings didnt align properly, it looked as though the exhaust is 2" too long as the bend where the centre pipe and backbox connect catches on the rear axle (banging over every bump) and the tailpipes are rubbing on the rear bumper, ive had it adjusted but its no better
Does anyone else have a very loose rear bumper on a mk2 172?
lifting from the bottom it feels as though its ready to come off, i would have thought itd be fixed onto a metal bar at the back of it?
Well had my cat replaced today under warranty thankfully, it had a crack the size of julia roberts mouth. The rest of the system is a magnex which the tailpipes are coming away and speaking to magnex they say they wont replace the exhaust because i wasnt given a warranty card? the exhaust has...
cat free pipe will make the car louder as the cat acts as a silencer as well, your system will be fully stainless if you fit the pipe right upto the manifold, you can get stainless manifolds as well but there mega money
hang on no prize
yep dentmaster are your best bet, they charge about £35 per panel and it doesnt matter how many dents. They do need to be able to get to the dent from behind to massage it out so as long as the bent isnt above the bonnet frame (cross supports) you should be ok
Chris if you go to Larkspeed or somewhere similar you can buy replacement poly exhaust hangers which are a lot stronger than the origional rubber ones.
so to replace the centre did they cut the tailpipe off and weld in a new section or replace the full 1 piece mid and backbox?
my cat has just cracked at the weld between cat and downpipe, local dealers ordered a new cat under warranty
A rubber mallet used by hitting from behind the rim usually works best, before refitting smear some copperslip to the wheel where it touches the hub / disk as thisll stop it sticking again.
I suppose if the wheel is stuck on itll stop anyone knicking em ;)
Does anyone know where it says what is / isnt covered by renaults warranty? i know most things will be but i want to know if things like the cat will be covered or will it be regarded as wear and tear
mines done 11k and the cat box to pipe weld has cracked, sounds like a nova er i mean tractor...
if anyone sees the above post about cleaning tyre sidewalls and wheels with WD40 please spray onto a cloth first then wipe on - dont spray at the wheel / tyre directly as some may get onto brake disks - the brakes will NOT work until its all cleaned off - BE WARNED :o
well had the magnex fitted today at an exhaust centre and what a bas*ard it was,the system seemed to be for a car 2" longer as the brackets were out and it was touching on the rear axle. They managed to sort that out though and off i went.
driving down the road the thing sounded like a...
ok im getting a magnex cat back for my 172 mk2 this weekend, has anyone fitted one themselves or do you all get a garage to do it?
The standard one is 1 piece over the axle so looks a pain to get off?
Hey mickey what are you doing on the computer at 11.00pm? i told you to go to sleep at 8.00, just wait till i tell your gran youre awake :D
When i phoned nu to complain i was told i could have a 5% discount but sainsburys was still cheaper, now without the internet most peeps would just pay...
