some1 please tell me i've gone for thr right car :)
i've lost £1k on the golf which is a bugger but the Clio is 1 year old and has dropped £4k with only 4000 miles on it so the main depreciation has already happened.
It'll have 2 years warranty left to run, it's having it's 1st service done...
well as i'm really only using the car to get to work and back i was wanting something relaxed - the 182 would have been better as a weekend car whereas the 1.6 suits my needs more (would have gone for the 2.0 but the only 1 i've seen was sold 5 mins before i phoned)
the 182 was 3k over the...
Well i went to test drive a 182 today after waiting 3 days for the garage to open - 55 plate with 27k at £7495 which was cheap.
The car had the rear bumper painted as it was off colour and it had missed the 24k service so the warranty was void.
compared to my 2.0 petrol mk5 Golf it was in...
yep lot of car and quite cheap to run (av 34mpg around town), cheap to insure. Most dealers want the diesels which is why the FSi books low but with 150bhp and 0-60 in 8.5 this is a good luke warm hatch with reliability and build quality
i had my last 52 plate 172 for a year but can't remember...
J60 NUT - did this car belong to anyone on here?
just wondering as i've seen it for sale and was hoping for some history - it has lexus rear lights :( and 17" kerbed wheels
cheers
Hi Ad
the Golf has 45k, fvwsh, £3k of factory extras (winter pack, sunroof, upgraded alloys, etc) but 2 dealers i phoned said it booked at £8 - £8,5k?
it's not the GTi (turbo) it's the GT FSi (150bhp)
If i could get tax thrown in and a full service on the Clio then i'd accept £8200 - £8500...
Hey all - had a pn2 172 about 4 years ago and thought it was great until things started to go wrong.
Have been running allsorts since (scoobs, BMWs, VAGs, etc) and i'm currently running a mk5 Golf 2.0GT fsi which is ok but not a hotch hatch.
I've been looking at 182s on the web and prices...
Looks goog Paranoia - mine has the 18" RS4 type wheels with 225 tyres(looks mean from the back), needs lowering for looks but i dont want a harsh ride so ill probably leave it looking like a 4wd.
It needs a lip type roof spoiler (R32 type) which is subttle but worthwile, the chip ? well ill...
well its a DBW car (drive by wire) so a chip gets an extra 10bhp over previous model (later vvt gets even more), some places quote 197bhp for £495 just by chipping. Exhausts, filters, etc are cheaper than clio ones and dont mess up the fueling either
172 was nice car but with the depreciation...
not as quick as the 172 standard but mods are a lot cheaper and the chip gains (abt claim 207bhp, revo claim 197bhp) give a lot of power/ torque for the money.
Better build quality, better ride (not too bad with the 18s) and subtle looks - oh and 2 groups lower on the insurance :)
Well after a year its time to say goodbye to the 172.
its had it niggly probs - remote not locking car, knocking on full lock at slow speeds, rattles, nothing major just niggles which i am/ was impressed with compared to previous cars.
well on the way back from the dealers yesterday the stop...
Just been for a 60 mile drive down the motorway, got off the slip road to a roundabout and the stop and oil light came on for a second? never happened before and the oil levels ok - any ideas?
172 - 17k - 2001my
well the problem seems to be getting worse - nearly every time i try to lock it it fails until i restart the car then switch off and relock :(
did anyone find out what could be wrong?
On a saxo i had  (vtr) , i had the same problem - it turned out to be the rear window which needed adjusting so it sat more flush
also check the sunroof drain holes to make sure there not blocked
i have the same prob, i went to renault but it was working when they tried so they couldnt do anything.
Usually happens when i get to work in the morning and i have to restart the car which reprogrames the remote for it to work - pi##es me off when its raining and im stood like a plonker...
i can lock the pass door from inside then lock the drivers door with the key but the boot doesnt have a key hole.
when its peeing it down like today who can be bothered with all this anyway
Well for the last 5 months the remote has stopped working every now and then (i cant lock the car), i put the key back in the ign, switch it on and the key retunes itself. Well now even this doesnt work which means every time i leave the car its unlocked!!!!!!!! last time i went to the dealers...
when i got mine it showed 39.5, i reset it and cant get above 35.7 now - seemed worse with optimax so ive gone back to normal unleaded (i only do maybe 40-50 miles a week)
i have an unopened set of diamondbrite (cost me £60 a couple of years ago), this wasnt available to the public over the counter (i knew a friendly salesman). Dealers would only sell it applied to the car and it cost £199, its a 2 stage process, stage 1 looks like water, this is wiped all over...
