hmm my 172 creaks badly when on full lock (doing u-turn at slow speeds), the dealer had a look and said "well it only does it on full lock not all the time"???????? yeah but its doing it and it shouldnt :@
To get the badge on level
1.stick some masking tape under where the badge is to go
2.measure from bottom of boot lip to masking tape in 2 places same distance
3.draw line from one to other
4.nice straight line to stick badge just above
:)
I bought some Osram bulbs for my last car, supposed to give 60% or so more light as well as the blue effect but i couldnt tell the difference when driving - £20 wasted :(
when the skirts off the adhesive (stickoflex) should peel off. Use a bit of petrol on a rag to get the remains off which should leave a solvent free surface to restick again
does it fit onto the thread on the strut tops or do you have to drill new holes?
i was told the front OMP brace had to have new holes drilled in the strut tops which i arent keen on doing :(
i had same problem, ended up going back to dealer to buy some tailored mats (non 172) at around £35, the only ones available were "granny" ones which are checked patterned , luckily this week i managed to get some genuine 172 "brand new" ones for £35 :D
you can buy "reducer pipes" which are about 3-4" long and slip onto the pipes to reduce the diameters - ie, 3" pipe to 2.5" etc
http://www.larkspeed.co.ukwww.larkspeed.co.uk sell them :)
Fitting kits are more for universal wheels (tsw, etc). You can get a different diameter ring to put in the wheel center to change the hub fitment, this is just a plastic ring which pushes in and can be changed.
Also some companies relate a fitting kit to - wheel bolts / nuts (ford use a dome...
you mean new keys from vauxhall dont you Matt ;)
yep Matts right youll need a key with an imobiliser chip in it (people sell them on ebay), youll then need to get it reprogrammed to your car with a testbook (computer) at the dealers
i have the same problem, i replaced the battery in the main key and it was no different, i tried the spare and that wouldnt work either. I put the key in the ignition to see if it would start (it did), i took the key out and it locked the car??????
It seems to happen every 2 weeks or so now...
only asked as the 172 has a 1 piece which does have to be cut.
You could remove the backbox and close the gap slightly using a vice then refit using some exhaust sealant
Did the standard system have to be cut to fit the backbox (1 piece system) or was it bolted together (2 piece)? if it was cut then you could cut another couple of inches off and fit a reducer pipe (larkspeed sell them) to mate the different diameter pipes together
i raced against an 80 year old who was pushing a trolley in the asda car park, very close but i managed to win by side swiping her :D - guess my cars down on power
and the wheel arches will look even bigger as the wheels will look smaller, also ride comfort will suffer / gearing will be shorter? so speedo will be out
