well it started making a ticking / cracking type of noise then after a couple of days sounded like a tank. The crack wa 3/4 the way round the pipe where it was welded to the cat box (engine end)
i use the meguliars "cold glass" polish which is easy to apply / rub off and leaves a deep shine. I also bought some of their "scratch remover" which doesnt make any difference whatsoever - better off using t-cut, their tyre stuff seems quite good though

With the surrounds you place it centrally on the console over the gearknob, drill through the screw holes into the plastic of the console then screw in the supplied screws to hold it in place (5 min job, make sure you use a very small drill bit)
I wouldnt even think of painting bumpers myself, the only way the paint will stay on is by adding "plasticiser" to it or else when a stone chip appears it will peel a chunk of paint off (such as on a door / window frame) and when you use a jet wash the rest will come off.

some are designed as "free air" types which fix to the seat backs or a shelf and others need to be in an enclosure which can face in either direction as it doesnt make that much difference
i had a magnex cat back on my mk2 172, the tailbox was positioned too far towards the rear of the car so the pipe caught on the axle and the twin tails rubbed on the rear bumper. The rear pipes came away from the silencer box and after 3 weeks of agro with magnex i eventually had them rewelded...
