I was at my girlfriends house earlier and when I went round I left my keys on the window sill next to the front door (which is usually locked) as I always do. About an hour or so later I was going to go home to get ready to go out, when I realised my keys werent where I left them.
Me, my...
Here are some pics of my car before I lowered it. OH MY GOD TRACTOR OR WHAT!?
This was with 14s though, so qith 15s it looked a bit better coz there wasnt so much of a gap between the wheel and arch, although the car itself sat a little higher obviously...
1.4 on 15s lowered 55mm at front and at a guess about 70mm at the back.

Got some of it before it was lowered too, I will try and sort them out for you
The reason Powerflow use a low grade of steel is because its thinner and therefore easier to bend/shape.
I know some dealers will use higher quality steel if you request it but I would imagine it would cost more.

Just wondered what the theory is here and whether it is a)safe and b)likely to do much?
They are 15s with 195/45/15 tyres and an et38 offset
With 4 people in the car I get no rubbing or scrubbing at all. The ride is very firm though but I can live with it.
Cheers for the compliments too ;)
I posted the other day saying how I had lowered my torsion bar myself and put 55mm springs on the front.
Well here are the results. (Excuse the dirt on the car, snow and grit will do that)
Just wait for Daz to post them as hes hosting for me. (Cheers mate)
Ben
As I posted before somewhere I recently lowered my torsion bar and attempted to fit new front struts/springs. I had trouble with the struts and so ended up fitting new 55mm springs onto the factory shocks.
Basically this is my problem. On the 1.4 clio there is apparently 2 different types of...
Fred, Roamer we must do it sometime soon!
I think Midlands Performance Centre in Walsall is the main place for Ashley exhausts. I heard Spencer there was the son of the guy who owns Ashley?
Yes mate I am sure centre to centre the holes are 60mm!!
Today I finally got my gmax shocks ready to mount and guess what? The top bolt went in but the bottom hole didnt line up it was too short!
The kit I have is the Gmax 54mm bolt holes so god knows what Ive got on my car?
Anyone know...
Is it the actual bulbs that give the orange glow? Coz I know on the mk1 clio there is an orange film in the actual dial, so changing the bulb itself wont make a difference. I know this because I really wanted to do it.
If you look on ebay theres usually people selling the blue LEDs already...
Anyone taken the bumper off a mk1? Is this gonna be a pain?
I was caining down the A38 a couple of weeks ago and all of a sudden a pickup truck dropped a great big jerry can off the back and it went under me but caught somewhere underneath. It ripped off half of that rubber edge on the front...
Cheers mate and thanks again for that guide without it I would have been lost. We really should get an FAQ section or something setup on this site dont you think? Maybe even make it members only try and tempt new people to join ;)
For reference you need an M10 nut and bolt - £1.19 from...
Hmm I dont know much about these Im afraid but I am interested too. I recently lowered my torsion bar (maybe a bit too much) and the rear wheel now sits inside the arch. Looks ace but on standard shocks I just know its going to cause problems.
If you find anything out can you let me know and...
Please dont get me started on this.
I am currently in the process of changing the front setup on my 1997 1.4 clio for uprated shocks and springs.
My springs are Spax and they didnt fit. They were too narrow at the bottom and too wide at the top. I have turned them upside down and now they...
Thats a good price. Even then though it was an easy job and I cant help but feel that companies like to make it sounder harder than it is in order to justify a high price for the job.
I didnt bother taking any whilst I was doing it coz there have been so many (better) guides done already.
As soon as I have the new front suspension fitted (tomorrow) I will get some pics up.
Well after much umming and arring I finally went for it today and I have to say it was a piece of cake.
My torsion bars came out relatively easy, just needed a bit of persuasion and some WD40. Interestingly my car seemed different to other 1.4s I have read about. People often quote things...
Okay my car is up on stands at the moment with no front wheels or suspension.
I am fitting new kit, dampers from gmax and springs from spax.
The problem is Ive gone to put the spax springs on the new dampers and they are too wide at the top for the top plate that goes on from the old...
