Just get the damage fixed and put it behind you. Count yourself lucky it was a skip and not a child on a bicycle or a baby in a pram.
Accept the blame, count it as a lesson learned, and move on.
Too many people these days try to shift the blame and get compensated for their own mistakes...
So VaVaVoom, a little about yourself: you mentioned paying in Deutschmarks for the exhaust. Are you or were you located in Germany?
Do you feel that the exhaust on the 182 is an engineering improvement or just a marketing/styling ploy?

Over 15,000km of very hard motoring and like the old Timex watch advert says "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking".
One litre of oil consumed! And this includes a lot of flat-out driving, whether it be Autobahn or the ring.

I would say that the 182 is really the same as the 172. If you want one buy it. Ive used one litre of oil in a very hard 15,000km. Nothing has gone wrong. Maybe Im just lucky.
What are you comparing the car with? How do you want to use it? If you already owned an Clio Renault Sport, you...
Fitted some DS 3000 to the Ragnotti yesterday. Amazing pads, very high friction and no fade at all. Did 18 laps of the ring with them and they realy seem to be the answer. Now to see how long they last.
You guys must be driving like maniacs to go through tyres like that! My car spends an awful lot of time on the ring with the tyres howling, not hanging about at all. My rears ahve plenty of life left on them. Must be because only oe of them is on the ground at a time...
Sounds like a good deal.
I like the bit about them being faster than the 182...
But we all know that the fastest of all is the Ragnotti, due mainly to the reduction weight and drag accomplished by the deletion of the rear wiper!

Im on my second set of fronts, the original Conti spec, and have a set of the next generation Contis on order.
They arent the stickiest out there, but they seem to offer pretty decent all around performance.
Yeah, all the time on the track. I think they call it "Threshold Braking" that you want to aim for. Just short of locking. Be ready to let up if you have to but you really should be able to hold just short of locking. Everybody used to learn this before ABS came into play.
On the street...
unfortunately mine were less than optimal today so I only did 10 laps of the ring. Home now to daddy holiday things with the kids, but another 10 or 15 laps would have been nice.
Met a lad who owns a Cup. Goes by the name 172Nev on some forum or other. Didnt have his car with him, but I...
First symptoms sound like bad ignition wires. They do tend to lose their insulation after a while. Youll notice it first on damp days or early mornings when there is condensation on them. Mine had that problem and wires and a distributor cap sorted it out.
The rapping doesnt sound good...
Ragnotti. Completely and utterly bored. Very tedious driving at the ring. 1100km on the track so far this weekend. Yeah, really bored silly, I am.
I really miss the Climate Control, Leather, ICE, and all those amusing civilised things.
Well actually, a rear wiper and a spare tyre would be...
Funny enough, they only built 300 Ragnottis for the French market and a lot of them just sat at the dealers for a long time and were discounted.
I saw a Swiss registered one at the ring on Friday, and one British Cup yesterday, but they are very rare on the continent.
Just the opposite of...
Liam,
You really want to set your car at rally height for driving in Ireland. And not necessarily tarmac rally height...
And watch out for the potholes with those wheels!
Well on the plus side, my Ragnotti turned 13,000 km today. On the ring. And I did 500 km of damn near flat out driving this morning, 25 laps altogether. No problems at all.
