I've just took some p6000s off mine that had worn just like that. With your steering straight ahead, does the car pull to the side?
Liking the wheels, wanna get mine done just like those but as someone else said, needs silver/chrome diamonds.
Will that work though when the nuts are round rather than hex shaped? And will I need to waste four sockets to do this?
Dirty boy. Oh you mean wheel nuts? What did the boy Fred do then?
Hi,
I'm a bit stuck with this at the moment. I've discovered that the locking wheel nut key for my ph1 172 is completely rotten and rounded off, meaning I can't get the locking nuts off.
On my car I have what I believe to be the original set which are round bolts, with 4 circular holes in...
Looking nice mate.
Where did you get that little silicone breather hose from? They are often prone to seeping on the 106s and Saxos.
Good move on the new oil filler cap too, once I changed mine it never leaked again, must be an improved design.
So what are most people running in their RS Clio's?
Thinking I might put something a bit better in than the Elf next time around. Is the Fuchs Titan 5w40 stuff a good solid choice for these cars...
Interesting Russ.
It wasn't two different grades I used (both 5w30) but two different makes. I did think one was slightly better at the time but wondered if it was me just being optimistic!
Might just splash out on some Motul or Fuchs Titan S stuff at some point, I'm thinking my 172 on 109k...
Can a top end synthetic really make a car noticeably quieter running? Or is it all in the mind, bit of placebo effect lol?
I remember running two 5w30 synthetics in my Zetec S, one Fuchs, one Millers, for some reason I felt the Millers was better, couldn't quite put my finger on why, maybe it...
£2K is a bargain to someone.
Try finding one in this nick with that much work gone in for such a price! In fact, try finding one at all that isn't a rotten tatty old shed!
Bottom line is, there are cheap 172's out there that arent money pits and it's not necessary to pay over the odds for a 10-12 year old Clio when you can pick decent ones up that have been looked after cheap enough.
I'm not so sure, I paid £1250 for mine and it had a stack of invoices for expensive parts replaced. It felt very tight when I got it and still does (now on 109k).
I did have to replace the cambelt though and an engine mount which was about £600 all in so I guess the car owes me more like £1800...
Big fan of this, I've just got a new job doing 300ish miles per week and looking at these. Very smart looking and got a lot going for them.
Would you reccomend it? I'm considering keeping my 172 for fun as well, as it's worth pittance.
That black MK1 XR2 is special. What a throwback to the 80's (no I wasn't around then!!)
As sad as it is that cars like that clearly aren't being used, it's good for people from later generations to be able to see cars from that generation 'as they were', in time warp condition.
I never advocated spending £40 on a badge either lol. Can't see how a small black wiper that is meant to be there and is fitted to most road cars is that offensive to the eye really.
Back on topic the car does look nice, exhaust fills the recess well.
Alright guys
Looking to buy the parents one of these. Can anyone make any particular reccomendations or offer some advice on what to go for?
Many thanks!
