It doesnt look stainless. I dont think that stainless would be that brown even after 10 years. Definitely tubular headers and not a cast manifold on the Willy though.
Motorsports hierarchy according to me:
Monster trucks, Tractor pulls at the bottom of the food chain, drag racing just above, oval racing in the middle, with road racing and rally tied at the top.
It might take some balls to launch a funny car or a rail but anything less than 1000hp is...
5000RPM is barely cruising speed here. Usually over 6000 for long stretches. Funny how these rev limiters work though. I took a photograph of mine at about 6700RPM after seeing damn near 7000 accidentally...
Study the torque and horsepower curves of your particualr model to decide whether...
Kelly,
I think youll find that to be the power steering acting up. Mine does that all the time especially whilst cold. I also think Im getting noise from the strut top as well. It sure doesnt sound nice but everything seems in order.

Cruising home from the ring this morning and my rev limiter allowed almost 7000RPM in 5th a couple times! Strange that it was working on the track, but it seems to allow the revs to climb if cruising at less than WOT on the open road.
The Willy suspension is great stock. It is the best Ive experienced in a FWD car. It is silly to lower a car and expect it to handle better without a lot of work. Look at the WRC cars and youll see a sensible ride height. And they are certainly trying to go as fast as possible on real roads...
Its funny but I had the opposite experience a couple weeks ago. I had the loan of a new S320CDI. What a barge! Did a couple hundred miles in it and found that people in sh*tty cars were going out of their way to impede my progress!
Never happens with the Willy!
I did that more than once with my dog and baby car, and ol banger of a 300TE4matic. For some reason it is easy to do with that car. Twice I had to buy oil caps. Another two times I was lucky and found the cap lying on the intake manifold.
Alzheimers maybe?
Grab your drill and put a hole anywhere on you induction system and save yourself a few quid. Or just pull a vacuum hose off somewere. Same effect.
Can you say snake oil?

My poor Willy spends altogether too much time at the rev limiter in 5th. All very legally of course, on the Autobahn.
Funny how many modern diesels can cruise a bit faster than that. Even funnier is looking at the people in the big cars cruising along much faster. More than once Ive been...
Worst I ever saw was an Escort in full Cosworth WRC trim with Valvoline paint scheme and all the body work. Shame about the drum brakes on the rear. I later saw a magazine article on the car and it was a diesel! The car is probably still running around Ireland!
Over here most people debadge...
Well, did you have him for supper then? I always eat my roadkill if it isnt too mangled. Ive been known to poach others road kill as well if they dont stop. Ive had lots of really good bunny and pheasant that way.
Another interesting race is the backwards one held at Lime Rock Park. They start the race with the checker and finish with the green flag. It is run in reverse! That is the cars have to go backwards.
I raced on a track in New Hamshire, Bryar, which they used to run in both directions. It was a lot of fun going backwards but one sppoky bit was the end of the pit wall which looked a lot different as one approached its blunt end on the outside of the exit of a turn rather than just flyin past...
