And in my experience, if a car has had a colour change, it just screams accident. 9 times out of 10 you'll find the evidence in minutes. A mate of mine brought me round an Audi TT mk1 in Ibis White (non standard colour) he'd just bought so I could give it a once over and low and behold I took...
With the majority of these problems it takes less time to find a fault then do the repair. So I don't think time was even a factor in the decision to buy. Also he seems to be able to carry out repairs so "know how" doesn't seem a factor either.
My personal opinion is that the buyer was...
luckily the connectors are all pretty straightforward and only plug into each other in the correct way. They only use the spades because that's the most straightforward way to cover all H7 plugs.
How on earth do you think the ballast gets power??? The two spades plug into you original H7 bulb connector....
Seriously, did you think they're powered by fairies?
It came from owning plenty of cars that have had bird shite on for long enough periods of time to leave the same marks..... And guess what I've always managed to get them out. You on the other hand have offered f**k all advice.

How about this? I'm a mechanic and know squat about paint and finishes.
The s**t is acidic so basically damages the lacquer. I've just T-Cut before to get it out but you might be needing something like rubbing compound. But don't quote me on that.
If you fix all your own cars and others, why didn't you just fit a new bulb and be done with it... Your opinion on the matter is wrong so you've made yourself look a little silly.
Another pointless thread by every mechanics favourite sort of customer. Idiot..... Your car didn't meet the legal standard, yet it's your god given right to a pass.
That's why you don't get any codes. Because they only read the engine ecu. You need to find someone with an airbag specific reader. A Snap On or Bosch or even an RS Tuner with Airbag Module.
SERV light is nothing to do with needing an oil change. It's because the airbag light is on. Check all connection to the bag. If light stays on try a airbag code reader to find fault. Most likely open circuit.
Timing belt is set and checked with locking tools. Seriously try a set of leads I've seen plenty in my time that have given the exact problem you're having. Arcing in the plug bore or generally not working properly at low revs.
