Im not really happy with the tyres on my car at the moment
Ive currently got Yokohama A539.
Im thinking of replacing with either Proxes T1-S or Proxes FZ4
What do you guys reckon and what other tyres should I consider in the same price range?
I was in the back omy car yesterday trying to find the very loud and annoying rattle that was coming from the back seats and it turns out the rattle was being caused by the rear seat headrests.
Does anyone have any ideas of how I can solve this problem?
I was thinking of putting a thin film...
Ive currently got these on my mk1 172 (came with the car) 16" 205/45 but Im still not totally convinced I like em.
I was thinking about trying to swap em for a set of the original mk1 172 wheels.
What do you guys reckon?

is the steering wheel in a mk1 172 supposed to have a suede like finish (like the alcantara on the seats) or is it supposed to be smooth?
Ive been reading reviews etc and a few mention the nice "fuzzy" steering wheel.
Mine is smooth?
Does anyone with a mk1 have rattling rear seats?
Have you gotten it fixed? I was thinking of using that padded tape stuff to build up a soft layer to stop the rattles.
Ok guys, there is someone on one of the local SA forums posting that his A3 1.8T is roasting a mk1 172 through the gears.
He did admit that the 172 was quicker off the line (1st and 2nd) but through the gears and in overtaking in 3rd, 4th, he was claiming the A3 was just killing the 172.
Now...
Ive just been unfortunate enough to have the front tyres lose traction while going round a corner and then lifting off the power to try get control back and having the rear end come loose, and after almost going backwards I ended up going into someones gate and now I need the front bumper...
Ive decided to the the ultimate engine upgrade to my car which will release all of its potential, and should, if all things go right, make it an M3 killer. ;)
Basically what Im planning is to get some black, Yellow, blue and Red heat resistant paint and touching up the engine logo.
Im just...
Does anyone have any really high quality (1024*768 minimum) pics of the mk1 172. Something similar to the mk2 V6 images in the wallpaper gallery would be ideal.

Had a nice little race with one of these today.
He was a few cars ahead of me at the lights and rocketed off so I worked my way around the other cars and caught up to him on a curve where he slowed up and let me pass, till we got a to the next set of lights. He was behind me, and I pulled off...

How do I know for sure if I have warped disks?
During light breaking at low speed, there is a kind of increase and decrease in breaking even though my foot is steady on the brake pedal.
What would you guys suggest?
Im not really interested in an induction kit, but feel a good quality replacement filter cant be bad.
What do you think of BMC or K&N?
a mate of mine had a K&N in his v-tec and swears blind by it

Ive just gotten home from a drive. I couldnt sleep and there was nothing on the telly, so I thought why not take the car for a quick spin.
At first I just planned to go for a little sprint up the motorway and then home along the back routes but the plan was not followed.
About 10 minutes...

Pulled up behind one of these tonight and thought that it might be nice to see how well I could keep up with him since I know I have zero chance of doing anything that could embaress him.
So lights turn green and I stick to his bumper, after about 3 or 4 seconds I think hes not gonna go for...

2001 Clio 172 with 20,000km on the clock and in mint condition for 9375 pounds
or
1998 Subaru (not exactly sure of the model, but it had a monster wing on the back so might have been a WRX) and a claimed 250bhp with 86,000km on the clock in good condition for 8750. Probably driven had with a...

Does anyone else find their mk1 172 clutch to be quite heavy, and when engaging there isnt much slip and the revs drop quickly unless you give it a little more gas.
on a slightly different note but kinda related... @ low rpm (500 - 1500) there is a rattling near the back of the car, is this...
