Halfords sell there own brand 5w40w fully synthetic, Ive used that for my suzuki and cant fault it. You can pick shell helix 5w40w fully synthetic up at any shell garage and theres bound to be other places that sell it. My renault dealor sells duckhams. Opie oils did have a 10% discount for...
I wouldnt worry about it too much john, its not going to be too much of a noticable difference. If your changing the sparks get NGK pfr6e-10. I changed mine dead on 72k and the old ones were still fine, they hadnt even gone rusty
It would be interesting if you changed them, then rr'd again and...
The dealer should have changed it when the aux belt was off if they knew it had dodgy pump before it was being replaced. The pump is only about £40 from memory and has to be done while the aux belt is off.
My locking nuts were rolling around in the spare wheel well. If you cant find them take your service book to renault and they will check a number to see if they can order them for you (assuming they are renault ones). However they have to be ordered from italy and normally take 3 weeks.
Can anyone remember (probably not) on the old forum a few years ago a bloke with a mint williams parked up in the shopping centre and he strapped foam padding all down the side of the car?!! Was extreme but quite funny.
I didnt word that well, i meant if you jack the whole front up both of the suspension arms go down as low as they will go (the arb doesnt push one side up) making it easier to unbolt/ bolt the strut back to the hub.
You will need to jack the whole front up on the 172 to flop the roll bar down to get the struts off. Also be careful the bottom of the strut doesnt damage the driveshaft gaitor.
Its basically a belt from the drive of the engine that turns all the accesories such as air conditioning, powersteering pump, water pump, alternator etc. On most clios it should be changed every 36k or 72k depending on engine.
iirc its not that much of a hard job, just need to remove the belt covers, unbolt the crankshaft pulley and turn to bring piston 1 to tdc. Lock the engine position. Then support the engine and remove the engine mount/covers, slacken the tension nut and away you go. take the old one of, refit new...
Theres a guide in the haynes manual, theres also guides dotted around the forum. You wont be able to do the fronts without a compressor, Halfords sell a pair for about £25. The back is easy undo the lower shock bolt and top nut in the boot and the springs will pop out, the front struts come off...
The bearings in the renault discs say MADE IN FRANCE...
Renault sell the discs (pair), with bearing already pressed in complete with abs rings for about £175. GSF were selling them for about £140 on ebay.
Not sure what you mean Vern? What year is your car?? The 36k service is a major service, so everything is checked, oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin filter is changed. Fluids are topped up. If you car is 4-5 years old consider what is done at the 72k level which is more-less the same except the...
