Lol, that rover 25 courtesy car is nackered, its only on 12k and the clutch is right at the top of the pedal and its running on 3 cylinders. Its my parents, they've had it for 2 weeks now while Trinity try and work out why the suspension on her c3 has fallen apart.
Unfortunatly I didnt keep...
Cheers, its on 62k with a fsh. Only plan Ive got at the mo is refurbing the wheels and changing the budget tyresm, maybe a suspension kit in time. Its also got a bulge in the front bumper above the no plate which im gonna try and correct.
After 3 happy, and reliable years of driving my 1.2 Clio, I got a new job and purchased a red 172 last week. The 172 feels completly different to the 1.2 more than I expected, even all the buttons and switches feel different and the power (esp after 4000revs) is amazing! I got it for a bargain...
Cheers for the replies guys, I called him this morning, he now has the retention certificate the dvla sent him along with a replacement tax disk and mot certificate with the new reg on, im guessing they wouldnt issue them if the car was stolen. I have a signed reciept from him saying i paid for...
Ive just brought a 172 from a private seller but he does not have the V5 yet as its just had its private plate took off, is it ok to go ahead and collect the car and he will send me the v5 when he gets it from the dvla?
He has offered the 'supplement' that he has when he sent it off.
The wiring is already there for the box you just need to slot the fuse in, I cant remember which position it is off hand. The clio already has 3 wires either side 1 earth 1 high and 1 low. All you need to do is split the earth off into 2 for 2 bulbs, then wire the high to the h7 bulb and earth...
The wiring is simple really high beam to H7 bulb and earth, low beam to hb3 bulb and earth. You also need to add red fuse in the fusebox to make them stay on together.
My local renault is a minute, they stock the common filters etc and the guy on the desk is friendly and helpful but the mechanics are still bonnet slamming cowboys.
Which clio have you got? sounds like good old fashioned french wiring issues to me. Probably water got somewhere it shouldnt or problem with you light/indicator stalk.
The hardest part really is getting the bearing out of the hub, if you cant get it out take it to a local garage and pay the mechanic a fiver to press it out, the rest you can do yourself.
I think it was the very early silver ones that had alloy bonnets, you can tell as they are very light and non-magnetic, Im sure they all had the alloy pedals. Look out for the 172mk1 exclusive they were in a 1 off green had full leather seats and had bbs wheels, only 172 made.
Im not sure tbh but I would have thought it should have 4 speakers and sounds like someone has butchered your boot light if the wiring is there. They didnt have fog lights.
It was one of the last special edition mk1 clios based on the 1.2rn they had the later D7F engine (60hp) same as the mk2s (but a little quicker) and they should have central locking, imobilizer, sunroof and 4 speaker stereo as standard. They are also insurance grp3.
As for the suspension most people upgrade it with at least eikbach (sp) springs, the standard ride height is a little too high for most peoples liking. Theres lots of options with suspension kits, springs and coilovers. Ive just insured mine and had no probs with insurance (im 22 with 2ncb)...
Dont be put off by high milers, Ive just brought a 60k miler thats just had its cambelt change and a new gearbox. Ive heard the engines dont loosen up until about 60k, Ive seen them for as cheap as £3600 on trader.
Actually theres just 1, its on the top passenger side of the engine on the plenum chamber follow the top pipe from the radiator along to the engine and that should lead to it.
