Ok so just put £10 of diesel in it and its gone off. So obviously not a fault but why on earth would it suddenly come on way way earlier after a year of coming on only when into the red??
Its only even come on before when the needle has gone into the red and i know there is still plenty in there. Are they prown to being fualty at all? or could it mean somthning else?
Right wel driving home this evening the low fuel level light has come on. I have 1/6th of a tank left (over 75 miles of juce in a DCI) and its on. Could this be a bad earth or signs of a dodgy sensor?
Any clues people?
Well done that man! just got it back from the garage... starter was fine, they cleaned the above relays and sorted! Going to invest in some new items I think!
So I checked the fuses - fine! Lowered the UCH down out of position to check the relays to find............ Nothing no relays at all!
Obviously this is probably why they have never worked, but my other question is... are there any others missing? There are no more modules to clip onto the UCH...
Update - Just managed to bump start it (so cant be too much wrong). Its now at a local garage being checked out. Thik the stater/connections are at fualt?!
A18XHO - It was tested two weeks ago by a garage and was fine, plus everything else works fine? anyone..... should find out later...
Thanks for the advice. Yes I get a click from the UCH when I try to start the car.
And the imobiliser light goes out as it should do.
I have checked the battery, connections where a bit loose so cleaned and tightened them up but no joy. I cant even see the terminals to the starter let alone...
Also...
Just tested all other electronics on the car (lights, wipers, intermitent wipes, washer jets, central locking, imoboliser etc etc) all work fine. If I had disturbed the UCH would this not effect other functions as well?
Matt - It doesn't even attempt to turn over. Just get a click from a relay and thats it.
I was very careful with the UCH, the connections are very well fixed (require two hands to remove even if you wanted to) so there is no way this is causing the problem.
I'm hoping its the starter thats...
I've had random starting problems for a while but recently not a problem. Go to turn the key and nothing, all the correct lights show up they dissapear... imob, serv, stop lights etc etc all fine.... go to start and nothing.
This problem seemed to have gone until yesturday evening, was round...
My disks need changing on my Mk2 DCI before it's MOT next month. I was wondering if there was a straight fit item I could upgrade to (ie bigger, vented)? Somthing off a 1*2 perhaps?
Any info would be very much appreciated!
Cheers,
Dan
I only have the standard security on the car, immob etc.
I've recently replaced the key batterys as the immob light sometime stayed on.. but this resolved that small problem.
I just dont understand how clearning the memory (fault) can temp fix the car... only for the fault to return a few...
Update..
Took the car to renault so they could run their diagnostics on it but they didnt find anything related to poor starting. Just gave me a few points what to try.
Anyway, as if by magic (since having the car back from renault) its perfect. Starts from cold every time, pre-heater light...
Someone mentioned that the actual dial unit is sealed? If so, are you able to change to bulbs for the warning indicators (service, stop handbrake etc)?
And if so, where can I get these from (other than renault?)
Many thanks,
Dan
Now and again when I turn the key nothing happends... at all. Other times its fine, cracks over and fires (when cold its a dog to start but perfect when warm).
Now today it did the same trick, nothing first time... then second it cranked over and over then just stopped cranking as if it tried...
I did earlier, however all I can see is the UCH black box with 3 banks of wires going into the underside.
Are the relays above or behind?
Mk2 Phase 2 DCI btw
Cheers,
dan
