This morning on my way to work, my cruise control just stopped working.
It refuses to set a speed in cruise mode. I can set a speed in limit mode, so all the steering wheel buttons work.
If i switch cruise off and on again, the dash changes to "SET ---" as if it's ready to be set, but if I...
Part of the setup process with Virgin media gets the MAC address of the initial device registered with the cable modem.
If it's already setup for the MAC of the server, then just spoof the servers MAC on the firewall's WAN port and assign the static address to the WAN port and all should be...
I seem to be averaging 1 or 2 mpg less than usual on my work run since the cold snap started, but I suspect that might have something to do with me putting a RSTuner Ron98 remap on it :-p
Tesco 99Ron all thway though.
182 21k miles
RSTuner Ron98 Remap
50 miles a day, 45 of them motorway.
From cold it is only ever 1 or 2 miles to the motorway.
Previous owner only put 18k miles on it in 3 3/4 years.
Surely the rev limitations are due to the ECU going into "limp" mode. that limits you to about 3k revs when the MIL light comes on.
My 172 did it when i had a fault with my throttle body.
Every so often when i lock my car, it gives a couple of shrill beeps.
If I unlock and relock it doesn't do it again.
Is it trying to tell me something?
Mirrored Raid 5 is where it's at :-) It pretty much takes an act of god to take one of them out. Expensive on the disks though, you want to store 2tb of data, you need 6tb of disk
It's a good point, and if you think about it, BotNets just opportunisticly (sp?) compromise anything they can get their hands on, imagine what could be done if they were specifically trageting one single machine.
The fact they can do it without a warrant is the most worrying aspect. People seem to be more worried about the fact that the could actually get into your PC they seem to be less worried about WHY they are doing it and who they are accountable to.
I'm senior support for a IT security management company, do the whole gambit from sales to support to full on management of security devices (firewalls/proxies/vpn/AV). We manage probably about 8 or 900 firewalls worldwide. (BT even outsource to us)
Rootkits are a common way of hiding...
IBM used to make drives that used metal coated glass platters.
Those were pretty damn non-recoverable if you smashed the platters :-). Though IIRC there was a class action lawsuit about them because the platters kept shattering in the laptop ones (duuuuur!).
Pulsed degausing magnets are great...
There are ways and means.
I work in IT security, and I can indeed confirm that we use "good" hacking techniques to test our own security.
If you know how a security method works, you know how you can (in theory) get around it.
Basically, if you're doing something that you don't want people to...
I had a little bit of a sideways moment this afternoon on a roundabout. I was only doing about 15mph and the back end let go a little bit. Steered into it slightly and was fine though.
I once had the fun time of driving my R5GTT in about an inch of snow. Not an experience i want to repeat in the least. Group N clutch with a bite point the size of a gnats left ball.
Heh, nice trick, but I'm sure you're risking breaknig something if it suddenly grips.
It's -4 down here in Ashford at the moment, so I pity our friends in Scotland, it must be real brass monkey weather up there.
It's slippery as hell out there, i was being careful and the tracion control was still cutting out all the way through 3rd gear.
Roundabouts are getting a bit like skating rinks. I wonder how many cup's we'll lose this weekend :evil:
It's a damn shame really, as with the new rstuner map...
Are throttle bodies the same across all the models?
Coz I have a relativly new one sat on my kaput 172 ph2 in the drive. Or are the 172 ph1's not fly by wire? (I'm sure i read that somewhere)
Not actually my car, but my mates Ph1 172.
His engine keeps cutting out at low revs, when pulling up to junctions and low speed cornering.
Any ideas what to look at?
Can you play back anything you previously recorded? If not then your hard drive may have died. If so, this is the oppurunity you have been waiting for, throw a bigger one in there.
