I think the noise you are experiencing is to do with electrical current and the alternator. Did you lay your power cables down the same route as the RCAs? You should think about making your grounds a lot better. Does it make the sound with the engine off and the sound system on?

When the ignition is on I have a buzzing sound coming form the black plastic casing on the throttle body. Is this normal or a common problem? Nick ;)

OUCH! When I picked mine up I enjoyed driving it back. I just get no traction at all in 1st or 2nd gear. Is thi normal?

It felt fine. It was just the annoying whirrrrring sound that increased with speed! Totally silent now! The handling is so much more improved it's unreal. This thing can really go round corneres now! Could do with some better tyres but they've got plenty of tread left so going to leave it...

yeah, will do. My mechanic thinks it's low oil pressure so the tappets aren't getting a constant feed. Cambelt off job I'm afraid. I'll post my results up once I know.

This seems to be a very common problem! Mine is the same. I have a thread in this section about it. Fine when cold, loud when warm! It's at the mechanics at the minute getting diagnosed.

Thanks, I'll try that. The alternator is at the left of the bay isn't it? The sound is deffo coming from the centre of the block. I'll post my results up when I hear back from my mechanic.

Just dropped the car off at my mechanics. He seems to think it's low oil pressure and therefore the tappets aren't getting a good/constant supply of oil. I'll post up my results.

mmm, interesting. Well, I've changed tthe oil to 5-40 fully synthetic, also added a hydraulic tappet cleaner. Only driven about 5 miles but there is no change! If I rev it to 2k or over the noise goes away! Very strange! Anybody care to comment?

Ring Ktec, that would be the easiest I'd imagine. If they don't fit, you may just need a fitting kit.

I'm going to my local motor factors on the way home to get some fully synth oil and filter. Also getting some hydraulic tappet flush to put through the engine. I'll post my results up later. Will the noise do any damage tomy engine, or should I just run it like that?

As far as I know, yes, it's been serviced properly. I think it may be overdue a service so I'm hoping new oil of the correct grade will clear the problem. Cam and aux done 30k ago at the 50k service.

Thanks for the link, I've read through it and posted to see any progress. Mine only does it when warm though. beginning to suspect the wrong oil has been used and that's why it's OK when cold, i.e. the oil is still thick. Might try an oil and filter change ASAP. What oil and grade is...

Hi guys, only had my clio a few days! haven't driven it much! It's a ph2 172 with 80k on the clock. I bought it with a few problems that need fixing. Got it cheap so it's not too bad! Anyway, when cold the car runs sweet apart from a lumoy tickover. When warm, it's a different story...

Thanks guys! I don't seem to have the outside temo gauge as well???? Is that something to do with the wrong headunit? I'll get an aftermarket HU soon, will the display where the clock is work then or only work with a renault HU?

If the fuse blew wouldn't both of the xenons not work? Could the drivers side bulb pop as well if I put it in the passenger side? Should I swap the ballasts as well? If it's KO'd, where can I get one from and how much are they? I read that it could be something else apart from the bulb...

I think my car is fitted with a ph1 172 tape deck head unit. I don't have the keys to remove it. Can I use ends of a coat hanger or not? As per other thread, it powers up but does not work. I want to get to the back of the unit to sort it out.

Please help! The HU powers on and off but there is no sound. I've tried pressing all of the buttons but there is no sound at all. Is there meant to be a display to tell me what radio station I'm listening to? I ssume it's meant to where the clock is???? Please help!!!

Hi, Just bought a 172 and the P/S xenon isn't working. What could it be? the ballast? Do the bulbs go at all? What is the easiest way to find out? Thanks!
