Right ok, I would have 2 noises then.
If the front wheels loose traction - have been a lot recently due to the snow, then I get a banging noise coming from the front which I thought may have been a set of suspension bushes because the front wheels were spinning.
It only have this slight...
Suspension top mounts or Engine Top Mount?
Didn't touch the gearbox one at all, I'll check over the mounting later.
AFAIK, the timing is bang on as it doesn't do it if you drive around normal, its only if it give it a little bit of hard acceleration (pulling away into on coming traffic...
Hello all,
I did a timing belt and water pump on the 172 and of course took the upper engine mount off to do it.
Now under hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd I get an odd vibration noise half way up the rev range that stops.
Just to confirm this is a knackered engine mount and not anything...
Hmm mine only seems to do it first thing in the morning, and I tried turning on and off the aircon the other day to see if it stops, but it didn't.
I'm really not sure what the fault is.
Is this after a couple of minutes of usage in the morning? sounds as if the air direction changes to just behind the drivers side of the dash and sounds blocked for a few minutes and goes back to normal?
I stripped the clocks down off a escort once and just changed the dials to match the current mileage, that was the reason, not to play about with it.
I'm sure there is some program to change the digi dash's - just to make clocks match.
Hey all,
I've bought a alpine CD changer for the car and its all fitted and works. However, when I start the car and drive off, the player will play a CD for about 20 seconds and then reload the CD.
Is this normal? - its quite annoying, and sometimes it has a complete fit and throws up a CD...
I found the other morning that when I started my car and raised the engine revs to 1900rpm the car had an awful missfire that appeared to go away once warmed up.
Yet this morning it didn't do it.
Mines completely standard with a new set of plugs, I'm quite unsure whats wrong with it.
Excellent debate,
Interesting read as I'm wondering where to go with my 172 and I don't particularly want to go down the cams route.
I've already stuck a K&N Panel Filter in it, but that was more for the usage and cleaning rather than buying a new one from Reno every couple of years.
So I'm...
I had a 1.2 PH1 when I first passed but always preferred the PH2 shape.
I've had a number of other sinces (mainly fords :O) since then and I've bought a PH2 172 recently. I really like over the PH1, not for performance or anything like that I just prefer the way it looks.
Hi,
I stripped down the suspension today on my 172 to fit Cup springs.
When I pulled the strut out from the car, I found that the top mount was wobbling about!!
Is this normal? - I have that annoying squeek/creek on full right hand lock which is that rubbing fault thats pretty...
From my basic understanding at the moment...
There is a set of Pioneer speakers that are specifically designed for the Renault cars, which are components, some people rave about them on here.
Then you'd buy a set of coaxial speakers for the back.
Then when you buy your new headunit, the...
I also have to agree with this, I am on the unlimited package and I paid a little extra to have a static ip address (£1 a month I think?)
I got the 24MB line which connects around 18, but it is lightening fast and I downloaded iTunes off the apple website at over 1mb a second :D
I have to...
Morning!
I got in my car this morning to find "Radio 1" was in its dimmed state as if my headlights were on but my Clock was displaying normal.
"f**k it" I thought I'll have to get a new display - mega wonga.
After a bit of searching I find I can change the bulb.
Does anyone know what...
Yeh its a common fault.
The cam cover is actually a cam cover and not a rocker cover and doesn't have a gasket.
You have to reseal the cover and then you have to put a little bit of sealant under each of the cam cover bolts as the oil pushes up through it.
I bought a clifford alarm for mine - makes some serious noise if you walk near it.
End of the day, whatever you try and do it, it'll never be unstealable
I've bought a set of French Renault ones.
I'm planning on a set of pressed plates on them. The other month my front bumper was practically ripped off so I've been a bit reluctant to put them on as well as a splitter at the moment.
