May shop around...
The quote included all labour, and some decent Elf gearbox oil. It'd be the correct stuff they do know what they're doing. Theyre just a little pricey sometimes... But I guess I'm paying for their expertise!
Only other person I trust locally is Fred so may give him a call later.
My jaw nearly touched the floor when he quoted. I mean, I've never had a clutch change done before so didn't know what to expect but... really?! Haha
Rough prices anyone?
Just been quoted £496.44 to fit (NOT SUPPLY) a new clutch to my 172 by a local specialist.
The guy said it's a pretty big job and that he has people in all the time who've gone to a cheaper garage and are having issues with the work...
Opinions please...
Re: ***How much is my car worth?***
Interesting thread... How about this...
2002 'Imported' Iceberg 172 on 78,900 miles
Cup turinis with Eagle F1's all round, some kerbing to two alloys (standard 172 wheel as spare with contisport tyre)
Cam Belt Kit, Aux Belt Kit, and Dephaser done less than...
I always thought a specialist would have insisted on using a full aux, and cam belt kit... I had mine done and they changed all tensioners etc...
I think the tensioner is more likely to go than the belt if I have heard correctly. If you have recently had the belt changed I can't see an issue...
Is my phone still putting a stupid signature?! I turned it off... Lol!!
Can anyone recommend some good springs. I really can't go to low at all because of the entrance and exit to the car park at work. I was thinking 20-30mm??
At the risk of sounding stupid, could anyone tell me if this comes with a clutch release bearing..?

I've no idea what one looks like, and I've seen plenty of threads about them failing so thought I'd get it done at same time...
My timing was out and mines faster now.
My friend went to jms a while ago I think to get a remap, he was 20bhp down on original rolling road session and that was because his timing was out! (mixed with a faulty dephaser)!
Can make alot of difference!
Also if it's "roaring" it may just...
It does look pretty high tbh... Lol!! Rear suspension is almost brand new so that doesn't help I guess.
I'll get some eibachs in a few months. Engine mounts and clutch are more important. Lol!
I think if it's lowered, with a couple of other touches I wanna put on it, anthracite will be the...
Definately get the full cam and aux kit. There was a huge chunk missing off of my old aux tensioner roller and it fell to bits in my hand! Lucky escape.
Large difference can be heard when turning this on/off so it should be pretty obvious. I'd have no idea about where you could find the flap... Time for a Haynes manual... Lol
Yeah. I cringe everytime I see the arch gap. Worried about ground clearance though. The car park I use at work has a horrid dip. I've scuffed the bumper on it as it is :-(

Wanted some turinis for a while, bought some from Rich off her today and couldn't wait to fit em... Pretty dark but you get the idea.
They need a bit of a refurb so plan on getting them done anthracite at some point. I have an iceberg Clio and personally love the colour combo.

Screw this I'm just gonna pay someone else to do it.
How much did you say you'd charge again Fred? Upper gearbox, upper engine, and dog bone bush. I have all the parts.

Cheers Fred.
That's the annoying thing. Ramped the car jacked engine got to that bolt and hit a dead end. Haha.
Oh well. Onto the upper gearbox and dogbone.

Hey guys.
Trying to change upper engine mount.
Can't undo the centre bolt on the upper mount. The outer four are fine.
Also. Do you need to remove this...
