Clio 197 creaking / rattle from boot area

I like to call all these anoyances 'features'. Its the joy of owning something french. Allot of them can be solved though. Get someone to sit in the back and press on the parcel shelf, panel etc whilst the rattling is happening and hopefully you will find out its source.

rear brakes seizing after 1 week

Pretty normal. Car always needs a good shove to get moving once the handbrakes been on especially if its rained.

    Power Steering Fluid Change

There all quite noisy because one of the pipes is quite restrictive IIRC. If it ain't broke dont fix it IMO.

are the inlet and plenum the same?

The bottom half is the same but not the top half as said.

Clio 197 creaking / rattle from boot area

    changing cambelt-need some advice!

Why do so many people say get the water pump done. Seems like another cliosport myth to me! Has anyone actually heard of one leaking on a Sport? Also the aux belt is hard enough to change IMO. Unles you have done cambelts before I would steer clear.

    heat shield knocking!

Mine ended up being the lambda sensor touching the hole on the heatshield that it goes into. I just made the hole bigger.

    Phase 1 172 v Phase 2 Cup

I haven't owned both but I have driven both and the PH1 wins for me just because it has aircon, abs and IMO a nicer interior. If it was going to be just a weekend/track toy then I would get the cup and strip it bare.

new pants please...dot com forward slash kwik fit

I would be wanting a new caliper and disc on that side as well as having nothing between the two is not going to have done them good.

new pants please...dot com forward slash kwik fit

I dont think theve used enough copper grease on that only looks like they have used 1 whole tub to me....! I would be down there causing mayhem especially if its busy they should sort it.

    Phase 1 172 v Phase 2 Cup

PH1 for me. Performance is pretty much identical but it comes with a few mod cons such as aircon which i couldn't do without on a daily driver. I also think the PH1's are getting pretty rare now whereas I always see PH2's.

does anyone do lower subframes for the standard seats?

Has it made a noticible difference to the seat height?

    Drive Shaft Gator??

Not really best to leave it IMO especially in this weather its going to get full of salt and grit etc.

    Boot Net

I got them from somebody breaking a 182. They attach in each corner of the boot the threads are already there for them. The other loops are already on the iso fix bar.

    Changing Clio seatbelts

I'm pretty sure they are all the same
  20. caister

    Boot Net

yeah it fits fine but you need to get the loops as well so it can be secured.

    Ph1 with Ph2 Dash?...

You also need the ph2 door cards IIRC.

    172 ph1 steering wheel

Not a straight fit. Ive never seen that picture before. Plus the PH2 ones wear just as bad anyway.

    5mm Spacers

Ah right my bad must have linked the wrong thing!
  24. caister

Will this be OK as a spare?

99% sure that will be fine as it'll fit over the front caliper.
  25. caister

    5mm Spacers

Apart from they are 5mm spacers. 10mm total per axle. Ive not gone for them anyway ive gone for the eibach pro ones 5mm on each hub. All I want to know now is can I use 3 longer bolts on each wheel and keep the standard locking one?
  26. caister

    coolant hose

yeah they are fine. Ive got the same make on my inlet elbow.
  27. caister

    Ph1 172 steering rack

Does the rack have movement in it then? You can check by seeing if the steering wheel moves quite allot before the actual wheels do. Is it the same tester as they hardly ever pick up the same things unless its blindingly obvious.
  28. caister

    5mm Spacers

Would I be ok getting 12 longer bolts and keeping my standard length locking wheel nuts?
