Cheers Phil
I edited my post there before you replied, I realised it was the middle plug after I posted.
My looped cup rack will stay, no thanks to removing another Clio subframe, not for a while anyway.
It appears you only need the top section, the collapsable lower column is a removable...
Could be a point I will need to look into it on the bay of e.
So to simplify, you need a stub on the middle plug on the ECU, everything else is supplied with the control box and column?
yeah it was racks come to think of it, yours was from renparts right Phil without trawling back through this?
I would just run two lines from master cylinder through cabin and then to cup valve I think, I just want the brake lines away from any kerbs or any turf I may hack up.
Yeah I'm leaning towards that tbh Tony, re tyre heat the bias valve would help generate rear tyre heat with full rear effort...
My understanding is that all cars are 54mm bolt spacing except cup packed 182's at 60mm.
I'm almost positive 172 cup has yellow, white dashes on the springs and the 172 cup shockers also have yellow/whit dots.
Genuine parts just fitted to my car.
Question for those that have fitted.
Did you just swap your standard ignition barrel over with decoder ring?
Will I need a stub of wire for all plugs on the ECU in order to wire?
Finally can someone put up a link with the reconditioned columns that has been spoken about on eBay please, I...
Sorry for spamming Dinger.
Question, Is there a need for a bias valve on a Clio given that a minimum of 25% effort has to go to the rear and anything more than that would see the car going into corners backwards. I think Renault got it right and hence the VOSA bulletin for low rear brake effort...
Ah I see, seasoned pro then.
Not directly linked to my car you see though ;) I expressed an interest in the championship and at the end of the day its their interpretation of the rules so its nice to know it can be locked within the cabin, nothing stopping you fiddling on track days to find a...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Looks good mate. Your quick release you have fitted, is that a cheap eBay one? Reason I ask is that I have one fitted and it has developed play within two weeks :S
Edit: just noticed your eye bolt mounting for the lower crotch strap, that will fail...
Good luck with the test mate, its easy. I got myself worked up for nothing, more of a formality than a test.
For ref it has been said on CS that bias valves need fitted out with the cabin and braking effort can be reduced to 5% to a given axle. Ran this buy my scrut for Scottish Saloons, quote...
Do you know what size of fitting is needed for the master cylinder too?
My understanding of the adjuster not within reach of driver is when you are strapped in with harnesses so I think I will just have it far enough away that it can't be adjusted when strapped in but in reach when I slacken...
That Evo is far from standard mate, about 450bhp with dog box etc etc, makes the AX even more impressive though plus the fact the guy was in his 60's driving the AX and the Evo driver about 70 lol.
Might not fit right out the box but trimming an inch off all 6 legs and using a ratchet strap to pull the legs in before welding and I can't see a problem IMO. It won't be easy but any cage fitting is tricky.
legend, didn't plan on doing this until later but looks like I will have to now you have the listing numbers.
My daily cup doesn't have any valve so I'm not sure how that works, maybe different sized master cylinder pistons. My race car does have the valve though which is a weird one.
Aye you should be fine.
First of all get my other car ready for a track day Sunday then make space in my lock up for this start of the week. Trial fit FG doors bonnet and boot then have them painted too. Measure up for driveshafts and order them, fire extinguisher and poly windows. Pare down...
Cheers mate, I might swap over at some point but I have heard a bias valve has little to no need on a Clio, even in the rain. I just want my brake lines away from underneath for piece of mind.
Cheers lads
Kenny its one of my favourite colours anyway but all the factory/race team built cars you see typically have this colour, I guess it hides dirt and scratches well while still being a dark colour ( anti glare)
Yeah chuffed its done finally, biggest mistake was saying to the painter do it when you get a chance, here's 3 months or so later. It willprobably need new wheel bearings and suspension bushes now, Its done about 50 miles being shunted about his workshop lol.
MOVEMENT AT LAST!!!!
Just woke up to an an email from my sprayer and the car has been painted
I'm not home until Friday but can't wait now, maybe I will be racing in 2013.
Few pics
Getting there, I'm more tempted by this system over my saxo electric setup I have. I been as well throw in one of these columns until I decide if I do want assisted steering, at least I can just fit the motor and electrics later If I do. I would think the racing guys might have to upgrade there...
Cheers for the help, Ibwould have been untested for around that money if the wheels, suspension etc wasn't removed now.
Do you have the OD of the breather hose that is supposed to go into the inlet elbow to hand? What did you do with yours, small filter, can of juice?
