TBH mate I have not really driven it much as I have been finishing it of, but for the time I have driven it they seem fine to me (but I also have PMS solid top mounts and strut brace)
The car will be mainly for track but will se the odd Sunday blast
Little update on this
I attempted to make some fibreglass brake ducts which turned out to be a disaster lol, so I ended up using some air feed trumpets and tbh I am pleased with the results.
I have tidied all the wires up in the rear so the drivers side are all fed in between the panels and...
Got my DAS 6 Pro last week with some Meguirs 105 and 205 with hexlogix orange and white pads, so I decided to test it out on the track car first as it had lots of surface scratches and swirls.
Really pleased with the results looks like a different car now.
I washed and clayed it on Wednesday so...
Thanks for that, I don't want it too lively on the back yet(want to get used to the car first) so if I got some 10' shims and shimmed the n/s/r in to make it 0.22' and shimmed the o/s/r out to make it 0.18' would that be a bit better turn in but not as lively as just shimming the n/s/r in to...
TBH I was not sure what to get so asked what he thought and that is what he suggested, anyway that can be sorted later on if it does not feel right but it is the back what I am unsure of what to do.
What toe setting would be good for the back?
Had the alignment done today, I would have liked more camber but that was the max the bolts would allow.
What suggestions would you have for the rear, is it worth shimming and would more camber be beneficial?
It is a track car only being driven to and from track
I am not sure if I should get some polycarbonate windows for the front.
I have spoken to a few people with them and get mixed views some say they are way too hot and don't let enough air in and others say they are fine, and there is also the issue of margard or not.
My car is not a daily it will...
Did mine last weekend, I ended up getting mine from Adam at Renault Wolverhampton only £40 a side, I was going to get the first line ones but they had to order them in they was about £20 per side but for an extra £40 I have better quality components
i made a tool and it was easy but without it...
No spreader plate, as you say it is the cage foot then the wheel arch and then the fixing plate inside the arch with the nuts towards the wheel.
The feet on the cage will form to the arch shape when tightened up.
Well I changed the inner tie rods today with the new tool (tube one) and it was so easy took about 5 mins to remove old one then refit the new one, the hardest part was refitting the rubber boot, well worth the effort making it.
I have searched but cant find anything, has anyone moved the carbon canister to allow brake cooling, if so do you have any photos of where you moved it to?
I don't want to remove it because of lights coming on and it possibly causing problems.
I've got a 1/2 drive torque wrench from Lidl must of had it about 6-7 years now and it has been fine I don't worry too much about the higher torque setting if it is a little out but for the lower end I got one of the Teng tools 1/4 drive one as I don't want to be stripping any threads.
I had standard Renault DOT 4 in my 250 and did a track day, afterwards my brakes was not great so I had thought I had boiled my fluid so got it changed and they were still the same (so the fluid was fine) I turned out to be the pads.
So unless you are doing long stints it is probably fine but it...
I will be replacing my ball joints in a few weeks and don't have a splitter.
which type is best to use the fork or ones with the screw also I notice the fork ones seem to come in different sizes seen these two are they any good...
Thanks for the comments on the welding.:D
I enjoy doing TIG (no splatter burning your head lol) but I don't really do enough of it and all self taught.
Thanks, as said this was free and about 1 1/2 of my time, anyone can gout and buy something but you don't get the satisfaction of making it myself .
that £30 saving means more beer for me tomorrow :D
As I will be changing my inner tie rods in a few weeks I decided to make some tools as I did not want to spend money on tools that will only be used once or twice, or be struggling for a few hours.
First is a old machine spanner that I cut the end off and as it was too big I welded one jaw and...
