Forget cams on a 1.8 IMO there not cost effective 2.0 bottom end is much better plus cams work much better on a 2.0.
2.0 bottom ends can be bought for £250 or so (Williams or Megan ones fit) then say £300 for fitment and £200 for new cambelt clucth etc.
The JC1 box isn't strong but it as used on the 1.4 16V.
Its the intenrals which are more likly to be a bit stronger on the 1.4 one maybe longer ratios. it should be just as stong as the original but unless you strip the box down and check thicnkess you'll never know I wouldn't worry about it...
What pads did you go for? If there quite a hard compund and 4 pot stuff is usally race stuff so squueking isn't an issue for race teams as they don't care about noise.
Sounds like the working well.
Any ahnace of a picture of the old caliper brackets please I'm trying to write a guide on...
Williams are reliable if there mantained and are kept on top off just lie 172's I'd have no worries running one so long as I'd checked and replaced an possibly problems and wearing parts ie dampers ball joints clean rust treated there great cars.
I'm surprised the parts still not it stock it was not so long ago from what I remember. ALos they usualy keep a decient stock or make noted on the parts saying superceeded by part number x/y/z etc and you need the y/z parts to make it work.
Its the part in the picture no part number sorry...
You'll need the other bit that dogbone attaches to which inturn attaches to the gearbox.
Its the one with two bolts.
BTW the bolt holding the dog done to the shell and the bolt holding the dogdone to the mount which holds it to the gear and the 2 bolts holding the mount to the gearbox are...
All CLio engine spec apart from 172 and V6 look the same realy its specifiaction ie Dynamic which look slightly different.
I'd agree with you dynamic 1.2 16V age won't realy matter. Some later Dynamiqes have colour coded I think but not many.
Theres a full fat up for £6.8k (16k)on the trader but low milage like that is quite rare there no CuUps at that milage.
I'd say £6.7k stick it up for and take about £6.5k unfortunatly I'd guess CUp prices will go down again soon with winter.
You can get these 0-60 test thingies all you'd have to do is only rev to sat 2/3/4/5/6k and chnage up. If you have more power thoughtout the rev range the 3/4/5/6k chnage ups on the 0-60 should show a difference.
You cna get to it fron under the car and from the arch liner but for easy take the bumper off doesn't take long.
Breakers yard.
I know the Ibiza one people use I've no idea what it looks like though.
Not bad for £300 depends how bad the fueling is it might be something simple.
I wouldn't buy it unless you've got a garage to work on it though.
At £300 you could break for parts and break even almost say £100 for engine £100 for wheels and £100 for others bits.
I'd be tempted to buy it...
Good point
christurbo - if matts done it it will be a good job he could have just used the proper Clio kit since it fits then again he might have made something up.
Have you had the dash off?
More likly the temp sensor wiring has come loose. If you open the bonnet remove the engine cover and the 4 pipes you see curling round to the engine on the right hand side of these you'll see a sensor with the wiring which should be plugged into the snesor facing...
