Suspension geaometery is what they will adjust when they do the tracking.
I'm not sure who's been servicing your car but with the milage if it hasn't had the suspenion and bushes changed this will make for a badly (possibly damgerous) handling car.
You need to check the bottom ball joint sht...
Check the fuses.
If the red light on the dash doens't stop falshing its an imobilier issue which can happen as the transponder rings arn't award winning.
Change the gearbox oil for something decient royal purpe is supposed to be the best but its £50 or so.
Type D Renault coolent is only cheap and its good stuff and Renault use it and recomend using it.
Its most likly the cambelts been done wrongly that why there are special tools to do it.
I don't think the garage/mechanic will pay so your looking at a new engine or new head (engine will probably be the cheaper option. £350 to £600 for a second hand engine then put a new cambelt on it and...
Strip everything out of the 172 and stick in the 1.2 there the same shells. Thats the easy way.
I'd be tempted to buy a new 172 shell last time I checked they were £1.2k but you could get one on discount for about £800 I'd bet and then have it re registered as a crash repair 172.
A good...
£100 or so.
You can buy a whole 1.8 16V for £250 sometime if its no MOT just need somwhere to store it whilst you either strip it for a transplant later or fix it.
Best get reading the Haynes books and every other book you can get your hands on.
Buying a cheap 1.8 16V engine and rebuilt it since its not in your car you can learn as you go along and then put it in the car when you can afford to insure it that way. A well rebuilt 1.8 woul;d be quicker than many Williams as age and wear take there tole on power.
Feel free to put up a video if its realy bad it should show up.
What central thing are you talking about?
You can pick up a cheap phase 1 172 for the same pruice as your awhich is the way I'd go personally if you want a 172.
If you cannot afford the insurance why are you doing this? Insurance on a 1.4 is more for you (or ayone) as its higher risk.
A 1.4 might be a few more hp but if you get a bad one then it won't be any quicker than a bad one.
If you want my advice and want maximum power for your money rebuild a...
It could be by the looks of things the've made it so it can enter a few racing series ie britcar etc where all cars have to be road legal ie indicators and lights as some races are at night etc.
You could buy th Mk2 CLio in road racing group N spec with a nromal gearbox but few people would...
Stealing is about the only way you'll get one from a dealership.
Thje 172 wiring diagram is the same as far as I know. The 182 just has a third generation imobiliser on the ECU.
