this site gives mixed opinions sometimes, dont get a 1.6 as its hardly any faster than a 1.4, dont get a 1.4 as its hardly any faster than a 1.2, our 1.6 16v would destroy a 1.2!!!
dont get a 172 its not much faster than a 1.6, dont get an impreza its not much faster than a 172, dont get an m3...
a dci65 will map to around 90hp, but a 80 will map to around 100, the 80 has a slightly different turbo i think it runs .1 bar more pressure due to a different wastegate and it also has different injectors.
apparently the 80 is more efficient due to its intercooler, hence why its in the lower...
ive owned both the dci 65 and the 1.2 16v, put both in a drag race and the 1.2 is quicker... just! take both out a run and the dci feels MUCH quicker because of the torque, the dci pulls from 1500rpm to 3000rpm like the 1.2 does from 4500 to 5500rpm, 1.2s really need rev'ed to move!
also your...
1.4 and 1.6 are bassed on the same engine, pretty bullet proof other than apparently ignition coils however we've never went through any on ours, maby they changed them at a later date and are now more reliable.
1.2's have a load of common faults although again ive not had any bother with them...
are you taking clio 2? cabasse headunit is physically the same looking and same to use, sound is much better, however as above its not exactly aftermarket quality, but you can get full volume with decent amount of bass on standard speakers and it still sounds good.
my 172 has cabasse head unit...
16v conversion isnt an easy conversion unless your using a doner car btw.
i just stuck a 2nd hand engine in an S reg one, same engine, sourced it for £45! lol
if you read the start of the thread you will see some guy said there was no gains to be had by fitting matched inlets on a 182. my post was directed at this due to the fact not all 182's have RS inlets. of course your still going to gain a bit on RS ones depending on how good or bad they are but...
Re: whats every ones preferences of exhaust systems on a 1.2 16v ( if youve owned one
k-tec stealth would be my choice if i had to get one, however i cringe these days when i hear a slow car with abig exhaust, i cant beleive i used to publicly let people hear how slow my car was!
lack of ambition in this thread.
tce turbo swap, few goodies, 130bhp, set of coilovers, 172 front brakes, keep it standard looking.
thats what id be doing if i was 17 again, unfortunately there wasnt much i could do to my engine at that age and had to settle for 82bhp! lol
mine comes on at 4,200rpm under 15mph with the launch control :)
F4R is one of the most reliable engines ive came across, about the only solid part of the car! lol!
i need to get my ph1 on the rollers to see the graph as it feels to me like its still making power at 7800rpm and my old one used to be running out of puff at 7200! (182 manifold though!) its had double figures in owners so god knows whats been done!
we all do it every once in a while! easier times, working 2 days a week, cleaning the car the other 5!...
and of course plenty time for the good old cheap HERO mods!...
