yeah we had the bolted flanges. Diff we took off had completely collapsed all it's bearings. We drove it back from Alfreton sounding like a fighter jet

We had loads of grief getting the long bolts out of the diff. The captive nuts spun, had to cut through with a die grinder
been a couple of years since i attempted rebuilding one (wrote it off as pointless) but aren't the ends of the shafts peened over to stop the spider slipping off the shaft?
Thats the right way up. Been chasing a similar issue with a vibration myself today. Not helped by the fact 2 cyliders have low compression so I can't tell if it's the engine causing the vibration or the mounts grrrrrrrrrr
