the car came on GAZ coilovers which at first I liked as I loved the way it looked on them but I grew to hate them

so got home ,removed the graphics on the windscreen and resprayed the wing mirrors. also got the car booked in to have a middle box and a cat fitted which brought the volume down thankfully not to much.

Thanks for that Just off the phone with them and they knew straight away however they seem to be obsolete from Renault for anyone interested the part no. 7700109151 old price of £16.50 each might have to look aftermarket .

Has any one had to source the valve guides for a cylinder head rebuild? I have tried a few Renault dealers and they can't even get me a part number never mind a price.

I had this same issue with mine, only I left it until it got so bad the car failed to start at all. If you open the fuse/relay box in the engine bay and check the relays spade connectors for corrosion clean them up and refit also below where the relay sit should be a big white multi pin...

@Fred -is the deep track which can be seen in the pic damage or oe (ie. an oil channel?) as I have no other 197 heads to compare it too

Time isn't really a factor but its good to hear its not scrap. if you have any contact details it will start the ball rolling .Thanks any idea's why the damage is all on one cylinder inlet/exhaust as all other journals are as new

bad connection on alternator? clean up the connection between the cable and alternator this did it for me

I bought and fitted a new RS2 from james about a month ago, great bit of kit. You will have to get it mapped to get the most from it . I hope to travel down to get mine mapped next week if all goes well. Speak to james best money I have spent so far if only for the sound alone:cool:.

There are quite a few very good tracks up and down the country but no where near as many as the mainland :dapprove:

Such a clean standard car, but with the RS2 fitted it will look even better. Can you just swap the ecu over or will you have to go for a new map on this one?
