After all the troubles I've had with shonky Netgear kit, I'll never buy anything else from them again.
Linksys stuff is usually decent these days.
I've got very little experience with D-Link kit so I can't really comment.
If you're feeling flush, there's always the Time Capsule.
We have a 37" one with a built in DVD player and freeview up in the bedroom.
We just wanted something cheap because we very rarely watch TV up there, but TBH it's been flawless.
The wall mounting bracket you can buy for them is very well priced too.
Mac OS has a built in VNC server which can be enabled from System Preferences > Sharing > Screen Sharing. Then you just need a VNC client. "Chicken Of The VNC" is a popular one (although I don't like it) and there are others.
Apple Remote Desktop can also be gotten FOC if you're that way...
^ You can do that with the Samsung boxes if you're savvy.
The firmware is Linux based and the handy ethernet adapter on the back can be reconfigured to attach to any old ethernet network.
I haven't tried it with mine though. If I break it I'd be without TV and that can't happen.
Pretty cool, although the 29xx series and above all have dual power supplies anyway. If you intelligently plan your power distribution in advance then this is overkill.
Simply dual homing your equipment's PSU's onto separate UPS' and setting your network up with redundant links between...
The question of whether or not it's worth it depends on the person TBH. I personally wouldn't have spent the money on mine if I didn't think it was worth it or if I didn't earn as much as I do.
I could have got a quicker standard car to begin with, but I wanted something a bit different and for...
My 15" 2010 MBP's battery often lasts me 6 to 7 hours of typical use. I could probably eek a fair bit more out of it too if I was to crank down the brightness, turn off the keyboard backlight, turn off Wi-Fi etc. I turn off Bluetooth because it's very rare I use it, but other than that I let the...
Yes. It's called "Backup and Restore" - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/features/backup-and-restore.aspx.
If you want to be more particular about what you back up, there's tonnes of off-the-shelf backup software available.
<nutshell>
I don't find living with my paddle clutch a problem but it took me ages to get used to it. I've done 12,000 miles on it now and it still catches me out from time to time.
I can't bear to let anyone drive the car because I know they're going to stall it.
I hate driving it in the cold...
FLOL @ LightScribe. SRS waste of time. What's wrong with using a CD pen and actually writing on the disk?
Anyway, the novelty wears off after you've burnt a picture of some norks to the back of a CD a couple of times.
I didn't think 291 was that difficult TBH, definitely not as hard as the 293 and 294 anyway.
I suppose it depends where your experience lies. I'd been dealing with most of the stuff on the 291 exam for years, so I found it fairly easy compared to the 293 and 294.
EDIT: BTW DK, I heard you might...
290 is a piece of piss. It's all about basic stuff like configuring TCP/IP settings, ntbackup, setting up user accounts etc. VERY easy.
291 is a fair bit more difficult but still not that challenging. You need to know all about RRAS, DHCP, DNS, subnetting, WSUS and setting packet filters on the...
I've never changed the gearbox oil myself. It has been changed a couple of times in the last 3 years though - once when the engine was swapped out and once when the current engine was rebuilt.
I use Motul 300v - around £25 to £30 for a 2 litre tub (and you need 3 of them), or wait until it's on offer somewhere to save a bit of money. I can't explain why, but the engine doesn't "feel" right on anything else now. Then about another fiver for a filter and about £1 tops for the sump...
Spotted around 6pm. You drove past me at the traffic lights as I was waiting to go towards Wollaton. I clocked the CS sticker in the rear window so I thought I'd put a thread up.
Saw you the other morning as well going the opposite direction.
So does an ordinary 172, but what people fail to realise is that power to weight ratio isn't the be all and end all.
Gearing, wheel size, aerodynamics, power delivery, the driver etc all make a big difference too.
I've never had an issue with a Linksys product since Cisco took them over. Yes, you can have issues with anything, but if they're better made in the first place it's much less likely.
To the OP... make sure no other wireless networks in your area are using the same channel. If it did work fine and suddenly doesn't, it's possible that someone else has set up an AP on the same channel in your area, which will cause interference. Of course, it is still possible that it's...
I used to use SyncBack SE.
SyncBack is free, but the SE version is about £5 for a license. The only benefit over the free version is that it can back up files that are in use via shadow copy.
