It does look good and it sounds gr8 - I should know as I have one, but it lights up white, not amber! :D
What about http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3820&cadid=3db81eff683e7995d31555d79f6312c3this? I cant vouch for the SQ, but Alpine are usually ok...
Im pretty sure that the GTi would be quicker then a Valver, but having been in Rockports 2ltr conversion I would be very surprised if the GTi kept up... its the extra torque over the Valver lump that makes the big difference!
Here are some pics I took Sunday...
I have scaled them down to about 40% so I can upload them, but I think they still look ok :)

For speakers I would look at DLS, Diamond Audio, Polk and some Alpine comps
Subs at a reasonable price I would suggest JL Audio and Alpine
Amps dont forget JL Audio, and Xtant

Caps dont hold enough energy to be any use - you are better going with a split charging kit and having a little motor-bike battery in the boot if you have some serious bass.
Erm - were any of them right hookers from the factory?

Just bought me a set of Diamond Audio M661s from the States - over here they retail for £350ish - Including delivery + import tax etc Ive paid £180. :D
180W RMS isnt going to give you much to drive a sub...
Bear in mind it is generally recommended to have more power than the speaker is rated at, as the figures given are gernerally a little shy of the mark! Ill have a look...
Ok - a couple of years ago I bought a Panasonic H/U as it was cheap and played MP3/WMAs. At the time I had an old banger so thought it would compliment it nicely ;)
There had been some faults with the OEM H/U but I assumed that was the OEM H/U not the car.
When I put in the Panasonic the H/U...
