Great car for the money, but have you thought about an import 172 for £12,000 and you still have the Renault 3yr warranty? Still dont like the idea of no ABS on a car with that performance.

Call me stupid (set myself up there ;)), but if i had spent £1200 on head work I would really want a before and after on my choice of RR? There must be someone whos done this, L.A.D have said there quite happy to do this.

Yeah like i said thats the only way you can be sure, with all these conversions going on there must be a few around? Has anyone raced a CUP/172 thts quicker than it should be?

Its about time someone had em them? A simple before and after on a RR is all it would take. I have seen an article about a guy who has a 106 with some L.A.D work done, on a K&N rolling road he was showing 109 bhp instead of the 130bhp the L.A.D work should of produced! But as it was a K&N...

Well all i can say is SHOCKING! My Mk2 172 (5 months old-5000mls) has most of the above problems. Why oh why cant a company cabable of building a car! (f**k off) fix rattling plastic and lose bits of metal. These faults have being there since day one, after 3 odd years Renault still cant fix...

Not sure but I have heard that when Renault service the car they wipe the ecu, set it back to standard. So this takes out the Re-programming from Superchips? Anyone know any more about this?

Does this all depend on how much extra flow your induction kit and exhaust give, i really dont belive the standard Renault kit is that sh*t to be honest, maybe im wrong? The only noticable improvements i have ever done to my motors involve chips.

Come on guys, you would be lying if you said Renault has a good reputation for build quality. LOL. They rattle and bang and clonk.....the 172s do go like f**k though (as long as you rev the nuts off it), so as long as you dont mind the odd bang, lose seat, slipping clutch etc etc there ok...

CTRs are good, 172/Cups are good..... shut up and talk about something more interesting. Did you notice how Autocar didnt mention about the Cup having crap brakes this time thay hammered it on a track? LOL Oh and the CTR has gone from Zero to Hero? what the f**k are they on about, talk about...

The solution I found best was to replace the standard filter (used an ITG one) and remove the pipe going down to the wing, and replace with a spare I had. But take off the fibre type material that makes the pipe and replace with some standard air intake pipe. Then I cut a hole along the pipe...

Lucky guy. My 172 is now starting to really piss me off, the constant rattle, bang clonck.......etc But follow a bang with a blast and..............smile time :devilish: I really cant imagen what state my car will be in by the time shes racked up 30,000+_ miles :cry:

LOL.......not much to worry about then. Typical Renault build issue, most 172s have some little niggles, maybe they should be badged Lotus 172? ;) its all part of the ownership experiance! lol.

That will be a 1.7 16v unless he had had it bored out? hardly worth it though lol, and i would say, straights you will have the edge, but throught the bends watch out! If he drives it on the limit, they handle sooooooo well, very forgiving, and inspire great confidence.

Brakes quicker than a 911 Turbo? What year, it must be an old one because they have being the leader in road brakes for a long time. The current 911 Turbo brakes from 60-0 in 2.4 seconds, the Clio does it in 2.7, a good result but not 911 performance. From 100 its going to be an even bigger...
