16v key fob, cant start car

can somebody help me, i took the battery out of the key fob, have nw put it back in, the light on the key fob lights up, but the central locking wont open, hence the immobiliser wont turn off and i cant start the car. Help quickly required so i can get to work. Does it need re programming?

Switch the alarm off under the bonnet.

tom do you mean turn it off using the key supplied mate( little one)? this just turns the siren off doesnt it?

Im not sure, pretty certain it will switch the alarm and immobilser off.

I turned it off on mine just before I got my Clifford fitted. Never bothered me.

i know what has happend as this happened to me just after i paid 500 quid on bloody engine servicing and other bits and bobs!!!

basically the keys have become uncoded with the reciever (little bit near the sunroof) so what u have to do is...... ur going to like this....

get the car towed to renault, hand over 30 buff and they will repgram the reciever and the keys.

it bloody sucks!!!

is that 30 quid per key mate, sounds about right,maybe ive had the battery out of them for 2 long. This sounds right,cheers mate

nah its 30 quid al in, but u can imagine the frustration, ill try and set the seen......



you been working away for 2 weeks, you given the old man the keys to the valver to get it fully serviced, motd the lot, around 500 quids all in (new shocks etc were bought!)

you get home, the car is sat there on the drive waiting to go for a burn, you go out there to start it up (had to meet a fit bird in reading) and what happens..... NOTHING


try again, nothing

3rd time u think ah key thing thatll turn the alarm of, yes it does but not imobilliser!!!

then words like this came out " you F**King french piece of sh*t, ive just spent 500 quid on you and u wont even let me in.... etc etc!!

then call RAC, trip to renault bath who go "hmm not sure if we can fit u in!! im like i got a fit bird on the go!!!

then all fixed!

I got the same problem with my RT at the moment. had it towed to renault yesterday, but they cant do anything til 2morrow hopfully it just needs re-progamming and its not a problem with the ECU like they said it might be.

Same problem with mine...

Went to Renault (Blackheath) and they wanted £60 odd quid to re-sinc (EACH) key!! So went home and checked out the forum for a solution... Found this...

Hold down Central Locking Button in car and then aim and press Fob at receiver a few times till it responds... worked for me. . . (for now. . .).
