172 Computer

On my 172 I find that when observing the onboard computer, that my remaining range (how far I have left before the petrol runs out based on fuel consumption) goes from 100 miles + to around 50 miles after turning it off. The petrol gauge itself looks like it is closer to 100 than 50 though, as it remains higher than the second notch.

Anyone else noticed this problem at all?

i seem to get a 100 miles to the first half of the tank and 200 for the remaining... if that helps

right when u turn car off look at the mpg , but then some times when u first turn car on it starts at 20mpg etc , so after 10 mins of driving u`ll see milage left in tank go up as it recalculates

Cheers guys. Duno really, it just seems like there is something wrong with it as to go from 100 to 50 miles simply from turning off the engine seems a bit weird. When does your petrol warning light come on, as mine seems to come on when the gauge is on the first notch (the one above the red one) - is this normal do you know?

I pay no attention to it! Also seems that i'm constantly doing 30mpg, it never seems to move!! Did 31mpg a few weeks back!
