172 Cup Alarm Help

My alarm started its sh1t this morning at 4am. Checked it all over and couldnt see anything that may have set it off. Locked it up and 2 min later off it went again!

Ended up leaving it unlocked the rest of the night.

Any ideas folks?

ps. I am not telling you where I stay!

Turn the key on and off 3 times in the ignition, then alarm it. You should hear a beeping sound that last 2 -3 secs.

This will stop the alarm being triggered by strong winds or nearby traffic..

Just give it a go anyway, there where very strong winds last night and they can be very sensitive.

Mine goes off if I leave the window open, due to the sensors inside the car.

Will do. Come to think of it, a bus passed when I was at my mates the other day and set it off! Can you turn the sensitivity down anywhere? I know with the old Cliffords, the brain had a dial on it.

The ignition on/off trick only disables the interior sensors. If the car has a faulty boot, bonnet or door sensor then you still wont get any sleep :D

Hey Mac, just leave your car open all night, nobody wants to steal a car that is full off stone chips anyway!! lol

Yea thats because there is about 1/2 ton of paint been stripped of the front of yours, hey maybe thats how the handling is out, too light on the front end!!!

My thread seems to have been hijacked by HOT GZL. I come on here and ask for some help, and all I get is abuse from some cocksucker. Please ban him moderator. I dont know who is or what he thinks he is doing on Cliosport. Prob doesnt even have a Cup. Please chuck him out! ;)

ok mac, thats us even then! Have a good night tonight, dont worry about the car, stick Tara in it, thats the best alarm out!

that switches off the interior ultrasonics.

no adjustment screw on the new ones although if you swap around the red and white ultrasonic connectors(so red goes to white etc) it will reduce there sensitivity by 40%.

bonnet pin switches are a commen problem so id have a look at that. did you count the led trigger count flashes when you disarmed it?

mine did this!

Take it to your local dealer and have the control unit???? replaced !

Nup. It has not gone off since mind you. Its going into to Reno next week to get checked proper. At least I know what to look for/what to do if goes off again in the mean time.

The sensors are very sensitive. Mine used to go of in when it was in the garage.

But be careful unlocking the car its a good trick that criminals can use to set car alarms of and the owners go out cannot understand why it keeps going of and leaving the car unalarmed/ unlocked so stealing its easier.

.:xTreme:.

If you do disarm the movement sensors by turning on and off three times, how do you then re-arm them?

I have FINALLY got mine sorted. They had to fit a new alarm and it is working fine now....3rd time lucky!

What make is it?
Someone said something about std 172s were Cobra, but mine is a Sigma.
Anyway if they are Sigma, just take it to a decent Sigma alarm fitter & they should be able to set the sensitivity lower. Should just plug a box in & be able to change most settings on it.
Maybe Renault have the gear to do it, but I doubt it.

mine was sigma an official renault alarm fitted after delivery on the dynamique. but i notice on 182s and 172 the ultrasonics are a different shape and positioned lower down the pillars so might be a different alarm.
