172 in a mk1, Superfatdan's very very long project....

Lol! Well hopefully chip gets it running :)

So far I've just been errand boy fetching relays and fuel lines from the scrapyard etc. Mikes making good progress on the loom though in my absence. Clocks ticking though as dan needs to kick us out at 5.

In my defence, I did try and persuade you not to get involved with it! lol.

Lol. Shut it fatty. It will be fine.

Just a bit more work for you and Sam to do between it first firing and it getting mot'd and mapped etc. although dan is making progress with some of the mechanical stuff anyway for you while me and mike are doing the engine.

I just want to tell the three of you now (not face to face because I don't do nice) that I am so so so so grateful for what you're doing and you will be rewarded properly.

At some point. When i've got some money. And i've paid the Tax man. And the VAT man....

Well if it helps, the Exclusive has some braided lines which can be used, plus any other random bits that are needed x

I fitted braided lines to the car but in the 3 (tops!) months thats its been parked up, the plastic coating just peeled away and the lines went black and gammy. They weren't cheapo ebay jobs either, they were goodridge.

Thats a bit odd, both the exclusives have them and both are fine :-/

well anyway it's there if we need it mate - oh let me know about Friday asap dude, if not Friday how about the following Monday?

It runs now. But LOTS of work still to do. It's nowhere near drivable. Not got proper fuel lines. Loom is only half made as there is no car look to connect to etc.

But at least the main hurdle of having it running is now sorted.

Chip, pm me your number and 'll call you tomorrow if thats ok?

I would do it now but i've only got 3% on my battery.

Chip would have to tell you that mate. I've got no idea.

Dan's just text me the list of ''todo's'' for before he sees it next, all stuff which I (hopefully) can manage.

Interior loom finish off (NOT ME!! Im s**t with electrics!)
Fuel lines (as they're cable tied on) and the return lines.
Rad fan connections
All brake lines (after Dan kindly fitted my Cup master cylinder)
All fluids refreshing
Tracking.

Bish bash bosh, bob's your monkhouse.

Although if I'm mot'ing it i'll also need a washer, wipers, horn, indicators.... thinking about it, Fcuk the MOT.

MOT would be useful to me when mapping it, but Im sure we can get one mate ;)

Still quite a bit of wiring to do on the engine loom as well that isnt on that list, and sadly we are going to be out of time today, and tomorrow I cant come back as have other stuff.

But we'll sort it soon, once you have the other bits done.

You can NOT drive it on the map on it currently though, start and idle is all I have mapped as it has no coolant so we cant run it for more than a few seconds, once you have a coolant system and proper fuel lines etc I can progress with the rest, at the moment it has an entirely guessed map that may well not be safe at all to actually see any load, I need to do that side of it once I can run it for longer.

Gotcha loud and clear fella. Tbh, I won't even start it because basically I have no clue what you lot have done today so wouldn't want to undo any of that.

Looking forward to collecting it tomorrow though, and spending a day wth Russel on friday. :D

At least it lives, well done Chippy and Mike, oh and Dan.

TBH in order of effort put in today I think its more Mike, Dan, Chippy, I've been mainly acting in a supervisory capacity (ie eating chocolate, lol)

You need a coilpack as well BTW dan, it was only on 2 cylinders initially, till we swapped Dan's one on, but he needs that back.

I have a few coilpacks, i keep them as spares.

Can I just re-thank Mike, Chip and Dan for their efforts today. If it wasn;t for you three the car would have been sold by now as I had 4 people express serious interest in it. Massive massive thank you. :)

I can't find them!! Just turned my box inside out.

I'm seeing sam at dinnertime though so I'll steal his. Just asked bomber to buy his two just incase! lol.

Cool.

Would be ludicrously easy to turbo it this winter now it's on after market by the way ;)

Mate, if I can do a couple of track days in it as standard before xmas, its 99% on the cards (funds permitting, she's getting a little twitchy now she's seen all the reciepts! lol)

I got them all out to do the advert.

Wish i'd never bothered! Made me feel sick and then she bleated on about moving house etc.
