Thats a standard GTIR and i know about the ugly looks and little wheels, but in standard form its still 1 pocket rocket. 5.1secs to 60 i think.
Im not saying the 172 times are false, they just seem exceptional compared to the times that the so called top gear drivers have got.
As to the porsche driver, very nice car. Ive raced many of you lot and still to come out unbeaten. Hand on my heart the only thing that has beaten me, is yes another Nissan. A 550bhp Nissan 200sx, raced him up to an indicated 165mph, and he was still pulling. I know the driver also and hes regularly hitting mid 11s
Hmmm my speeds were anywhere between 80-115 I think. Fingers crossed tho.

As Ive said before once Renaults are run in a bit they seem to get a fair bit faster.

How much have you spent on the engine rebuild complete?
I have read of gti-r owners buying the car for £6k and spending another £20k tuning it.
How much is it worth now?

Paddy, i see your point. 1 1/2 secs aint really a lot, but the performance obviously kicks in after that. Racing to 100 or 130 or 150. Im sure there would be a lot more than 1 1/2 secs. Again im not on here winding up, sl*g me off if you wish i normally drive around in an old primera. I use the pulsar on occasional trips to the raceways, and the occasional trip out and about. At max 2000miles a year!!!
Ive spent 17.5k on the pulsar so far, am pushing for 400bhp+, think ill need a newer and uprated turbo to cope with the extra boost though,
as for the false times there seems to be a major difference between magazines times, i think the lowest 0-60 time on a mk2 172 was 6.4 secs, paddy and some of the others have done the 1/4mile in their cars when they were run in and im sure some of the guys may even have their official time slips they can scan and post

Mac your not judged by me on what you spend....you have the rewards in performance. In the future if 172s have a turbo upgrade i think things would be really close on the 1/4 mile times

The fuel costs are silly, thats why i hardly drive it, its not a practical car, far too loud, and at best 16/17mpg. normally about 150miles from full and its re-fill time. Just to state i normally drive around in a 1.6 primera so im hardly in a position to start sl*gging any of you off.

made me laugh when they turned up at santa pod for an owners club meet, quickest time of the day by them was around 19.1secs and that was one of the super turbos
380 bhp and only 12.87 seconds? You need to practise your starts mate
A good friend of mine had a pulsar with only 265 bhp and top mount running 1 bar. He managed 12.54 at the pod. But i think he upped the boost to 16 psi for the 12.54. He was running 12.7/8 all day....A modded pulsar will rip apart most things. They certainly shift. I was sat at top speed going down hill, my friend even gave me a head start and then came flying past....(i think his mods were hybrid turbo with 1 bar, mongoose exhaust HKS "competition use only" down pipe, piperX cone filter, oh and nutter driver)
Nissan really has gone to the dogs - they used to make ugly cars, now they make.........well...........even uglier womens hairdresser cars! I particularly love the old boxy GTI Rs with cossie whaletale spoilers on them ---------mmmmmmmm......what a treat! That pic posted earlier is the closest ull get to Postman Pats mail van (even beating the Civic type R on the ugly scales)
