172 rear calliper bolt stuck

  Clio 2.0 16v 182
My 172 ph1 rear brakes have seized in storage but I can't get the pads out because of the bolt pictured below.

Sockets won't fit over the bolt because of the pad assembly to the left. As you can see the bolt has started to round at the the top. Any suggestions? Don't really want to buy a new bolt

Have you tried wd40 and leave to soak and then give it a shock with a hammer? Failing that a new bolt can't be expensive.

See if you can nudge that retaining pin over to the left a bit to give you room to get a socket on.

Spray a bit of penetrant spray onto the bolt too.

1. GT85/WD40/Plusgas on the bolt (both ends if possible)
2. Remove retaining pin/clip thing.
3. With a flat blade screwdriver and hammer, tap the metal bit out of the way so you can get a socket on the bolt.
4. Put 1/2" ratchet on the socket and try to undo it. It may help to shock the bolt free if you hit the ratchet with your fist.
5. If step 4 fails - use a breaker bar.

The rear pad fitting kit is very cheap and worth replacing while you've got it in bits.
