172 Rev help...

Hi guys,

Just bought a lovely 172 from a chap off here... thing is, im confused, cars rev counter does not have the red dashed zone above the limiter and seems to rev to 7600 on the clock? Has this been remapped or did the earlier 172 mk2's do this anyway? its a 2002 51 plate and the shift light no it says GAZ/GAS in green as oposed to the orange gearstick light seen on others


Bit curious, anyone know?

defo sounds like it has been remapped to me , but curious is it an import ?

Not sure mate, but the wing mirror adjuster control is the oposite way around, turn the knob left to adjust right mirror etc

a sign maybe?

7250 is stock rpm rev limiter might have been upped or the counter faulty.

If not damn coincidence here as I was in a 51 plate 172 the other day with exactly the same thing happening.

Mine before the map would die off around 7K, never higher. Now it goes to 7850 before bouncing. The gaz/gas light sounds like the shift indicator but mine IS an import and has the green gearstick instead, however mine is a 52 plate.
