172Cup purchase help req.

  Arctic Blue 182

Hi all. Ive got a 182 myself, had it 2 weeks, and have seen a 172Cup Im thinking of buying for my girlfriend.

Im in Sheffield. Just wondered if it someone off here had sold it/px. Reg number FP52 KYW. It says Leicestershire on the bottom of the number plate. Was this your car?

18k miles £9795. Is this a decent price, baring in mind its coming up for its first service and the tyre tread is running v.low and tyre walls have wear (theyre the Contisports) so its obviously been cornered hard, as youd expect. Also the passenger side door trim seems very faded and non-shinny compared to drivers side. It also has the little 172cup badges at the bottom of the centre door pillar.

Generally tho, the car looks mint, no door dints so theyve obviously been careful where they park it. 1 or 2 stone chips on bonnet but nothing major. Thinking about taking it for a test drive tomorrow. The girlfriend loves it!

Would be grateful for advice, cheers.

Shouldve been serviced already...intervals on 172/182s is 12k not 18k.

Price wise...theres a 2yr old 24k mile example at a dealer local to me, and theyve got it up at £10,500!!! So that one doesnt look too bad...

If one door trim is shinny then it may have been replaced due to a bump. The rub strips are a matt finish on the Cup

If I was you Id look out for a pre reg one which wont be a great deal more and will be a new car.

Well to be honest when he said 18k for a service I did think to myself it should be 12k. It was on my Mk1 172 and it is on the my new 182. I thought it must be different for the cups for some reason, as he did show us in the handbook as he said it. mmm strange.

Shall have a better look tomorrow. Was pushed for time this aftn.

cheers.

The service interval on a cup is exactly the same as a 172 or 182 etc. 12,000 miles or 2 years.

Other petrol clios in the range (dunno about diesels) have an interval or 18,000 miles or 2 years.

Hope this helps!

Lee M, sorry, i dont know how to quote previous post in my replies I clicked the quote button on you post but didnt know for sure if thats what I shouldve done......, But in response to your post about the rub strips - Both of them did have a matt finish, but the passenger one seemed a lot matter than the driver side, also had white scuff marks of polish all over it. They just looked very different to each other.

Also I shall question where he got the idea of an 18k mile service from as I thought it shouldve been 12k.

Dont be too concerned about the rubbing strips being slightly faded/matt as mine are a bit like this. I am reliably informed that a drop of Autoglym bumper restorer (green goo stuf) will get them up a treat though.
