182 beeping alarm problem - the solution

There have been a few people on here recently asking about the 182 alarm beeping problem (when locking the car the alarm beeps 2 or 3 times). Well, on the Renaultsport site forum, a Cobra technician has explained the reason for the problem and how to get it fix by your dealer. This is what he says:

Problem: When locking the vehicle the alarm beeps 2 or 3 times!

Reason: The alarm system has received a signal from the vehicle ECU that the ignition is on causing the alarm to beep. This signal is only received by the alarm for 3 to 4 seconds, after this time has elapsed the alarm stops beeping.

Solution: This problem can only be resolved at your local Renault dealer. Ask the dealer to contact the Renault alarm help line and quote reference RS+15, we will then inform them of the modification to be done under warranty.

Please note that this problem will not cause the alarm system to false trigger and is intermittent.

Ive been telling people this for months that its the ignition sense connection

finaly i get some back up from a proper service technician

mine does it from time to time but it dosent bother me, As long as the alarm is still armed id rather just leave it be than have renault tamper with it.

Ive told my dealer twice and on both occasions they have failed to fix it. Ive now given up until it goes in for a service.

take it to the dealer and get it fixed, quote reference RS+15 and it will be fixed

why does it only affect certain cars then if they are all fitted with same alarms,strage. mine only ever done it once, i do wait a few seconds between getting out of car and locking though.

I started a post on this problem a few months ago... Had the work carried out under warranty as i explained on the post. Its a wiring fault as "rcp_" explains. It took the technician only about 20 mins to fix it, once hed found the correct wire stated in the memo from Cobra... Had no probs since!!

I always thought that it was a feature of the alarm i.e if you need to quickly nip into a shop and you have a passenger in the car when you get out and quickly arm the car it beeps three time to tell you that the car is armed, but the ultrasonics are disabled so the passenger doesnt set them off ?

maybe Im making it up though ?

i tried this last night as it never does it for me, i normally take the keys out of the ignition then get out of the car, but i got out of the car and then took the keys out and closed the door straight away and armed the alarm and as was said, it started beeping at me!
