182 Cup Air Con - no longer cold after servicing...

  RenaultSport Clio 182 Cup
Hi,

Shot in the dark, but was wondering if anyone might be able to help shed light on a problem that has materialised on my 182 cup. Did a full service this weekend (all filters inc. oil/pollen) only to head back from Shropshire today to discover the air con didn't seem to be cooling the air (was definately much cooler when I had it on the way up there on Friday!).

The pump definately sounds to be kicking-in, but that is about it... I suppose I might have knocked one of the pipes when changing the oil filter but was pretty careful - there does appear to be some sort of electrical switch to the upper left as you look head on but all wires seem OK and the pipes dont appear to have been disturbed.

I also checked the pollen filter again and that seems fine. Oddly the pipes as they go into the bulkhead do appear to be getting cool - none of the ones in the engine bay do. There is what looks to be a brass block just before the pipes go under the windscreen skuttle and this gets cool too.

Anyone have any suggestions? I am fearing the worse (i.e. pipe disturbance) but if there are any other sensors/fuses I should check before going to get the pressure tested I would very much appreciate the heads-up.

Typical that I have been trying to care for the car since getting it a couple of months ago and this happens...

Did you put the pollen filter the right way, theres normally an arrow on them

Yes thanks Mike - did check the airflow arrow was in the right direction. Should add that in normal heater opperation it goes from cold to hot fine & the fan works fine at all speeds etc.

I should probably add I have eliminated the concern that it might have had something to do with the switch by the oil filter I mentioned - I have subsequently learnt that this is actually a power steering pressure swtich!

Does anyone have any air-con (pref. mobile) specalist recommendations in the Surrey (Camberley/Bagshot/Guildford/Ascot area).

Many thanks,
James

There us an arrow on the black moulding (just to the right of the cover that you replace to get access) - as you look under the bonnet of the car it points from left TO right. I assumed this indicated direction of airflow - I could be wrong (anyone confirm, old one didn't have a direction indicator for reference)? But cant see this impacting air con performance?! 172 cups didn't have air-con.

Ahh thanks - so that's what that is! Interior temp read out seems fine unfortunately so don't think it can be that.

I have just taken my pollen filter out and had another good luck. It would appear their is another radiator matrix which sits interior-side of the pollen filter, so could be that this was knocked when changing but it is pretty bloody weak if this is the case. Arrow should definately point from left to right as you look under the bonnet - I checked the direction of the airflow with my hand.

So, any air-con specialists that anyone can recommend in the Surrey area?
