I was heading down some B-Road this morning heading to watch a rally in Dumfries-shire, came round a bend at about 40 and there's loads of standing water, hit the standing water, aquaplane, sliding left towards a sign post, i'm holding full lock to the right, keep sliding can't see a thing as the water is just ploughing up the windscreen and nearside window, keep sliding (actually half on the grass verge!) still full lock (no brakes, no throttle, dipped the clutch...) miss the sign by a BAW HAIR and then grips and swings right so I had to correct that too.
Amazing how the speed picked up as the car was skimming over the water, friction is a good thing to have on your side!
arghhhh shat a brick lol but no damage done.
Moral of the story: s**t very nearly happened :dapprove:
I've aquaplaned in the past but this was frightening, no warnings i.e. 'flood' signs, I didnt know the road which clearly didnt help either but really was unavoidable, wasn't going fast but got caught out and was nearly very costly, watch yourselves children!
There's grass between my tyre and the wheel rim, eek!
