182 goes off road in mini adventure

  tiTTy & SV650
I was heading down some B-Road this morning heading to watch a rally in Dumfries-shire, came round a bend at about 40 and there's loads of standing water, hit the standing water, aquaplane, sliding left towards a sign post, i'm holding full lock to the right, keep sliding can't see a thing as the water is just ploughing up the windscreen and nearside window, keep sliding (actually half on the grass verge!) still full lock (no brakes, no throttle, dipped the clutch...) miss the sign by a BAW HAIR and then grips and swings right so I had to correct that too.

Amazing how the speed picked up as the car was skimming over the water, friction is a good thing to have on your side!

arghhhh shat a brick lol but no damage done.

Moral of the story: s**t very nearly happened :dapprove:

I've aquaplaned in the past but this was frightening, no warnings i.e. 'flood' signs, I didnt know the road which clearly didnt help either but really was unavoidable, wasn't going fast but got caught out and was nearly very costly, watch yourselves children!

There's grass between my tyre and the wheel rim, eek!

Even worse when you got passengers! Lucky escape, suppose its all part of the driving expierence. But doesnt half s**t you ip when it happens. Glad everything was ok for you mate.

Worst feeling in the world, I was driving down the the motorway and hit standing water at 80, couldn't see anything just had to ride it out, came through the other side about a foot off the central reservation. Heart felt like it was going to pound through my chest.

Glad you were ok

I can imagine that happening m8 as I read it. Lucky escape I reckon. With this stormy weather lately best going a bit slower on those back roads me thinks.
