182 rasping sound????

Had my 182 for 2 weeks now (its a 05 4 months old ex demo), and have noticed a rasping sound when I accelerate. When I am at a steady speed it disappears. Performance of the car is not effected at all. The sound reminds me of a induction suck, but weaker and It seems to be comming from the passenger side area of the engine bay.

So far my thoughts are:-

Exhaust or manifold blowing (however does not rasp when engine rev'd when stationary)
Brake caliper sticking (no extra dust to indicate this).

Or this is the noise the 182 makes!!!!!!!!!!!

So my question to other 182 owners is does yours do this??? Ideas greatfully received before I book it in to Reno to have a look.

Cheers

Cheers for the reply Liam / benji&eka:) . I was thinking the same....You now what it's like when you get a new car, every new noise is a potential trip to the dealer:eek:. My only reference is my old 172, which sounded a lot different.

I hate that noise:( Bought a cat back exhaust system to try and rid it as I thought it was coming from thr middle box, but it's still there so it must be intake or CAT.

I can hear the engine noise more from the passenger side in my 172 too. I assume it is because of the bonnet release hole being in the passenger footwell and letting in extra noise through that.

Mine sounds rubbish in my opinion. But then my stock exhaust is blowing despite replacing the gasket and clamp

On with the blueflame !! Mwa hah hah hah

I love the sound of it. I always get people turn around if over say 3500revs before I go past them, probably expecting something more than a clio. I think the best words to describe it is "well defined".
