182 remaps??

does anyone do PROPER remaps of the standard ECU??

i.e. where its run on the rollers for hours while the map is adjusted to get the best from the individual engine.

i know when i was on the pug/cit scene, wayne schofield at chipwizards could remap the standard ECU's and get a very healthy gain. but it costs around £400

is there anything available in the clio world for the 182's?
without having to have piggyback ECU's etc.

i wanna keep my car as standard visually as i possibly can but want to get the best out of the engine.

I would suggest an SMT6 with remap obviously. Ive been told you can take it off when you change vehicles.

Speak to Andy at GDI.

IIRC there was a place up north who did remaps using a RR on standard ECUs. (R3OBC had details)

Yes i think it would, but it can be done.

Ask Andy as i say, he mentioned it to me when i was talking to him. I guess they would join them back "neatly" or something along those lines.

its just not something im prepared to do as i'll be wanting to sell the car in just over a years time and wouldnt want it to have modified wiring or anything, plus theres the warranty, that is needed on the 182 with all the common problems they have.

get the chip done at leeds like a few of us are good gains for just £250 no insurance worries particulary i.e no spliced wiring and second ECU unit. just a simple map. good gains upto 12lbft and 5-7hp i belive

im seriously considering it, but just trying to research into other alternatives as a custom map to the engine would be better all round.

Thats it, in Leeds !!!

Rob mentioned it to me a while ago.... that place does exactly wot he said ^^

yeah already been chatting to the bloke tonight. if i cant find a decently priced full custom remap then i'll go to that place in leeds.

agree.. but from the posts ive read over the last few weeks it seems that people with a few basic mods do return more even if it is a fairly standard map for all cars. so maybe getting some better breathing i.e induction + zorst will improve results further.

also warenty wont be adversly effected

Yep it will leave some wires but Andi does a good job of hiding them My WIlliams had one fitted but looking at it you cannot tell it has been done unless you know about it.

exactly what i thaught. Its well worth it.

Unless ur specificly looking at it you wouldnt know....

you would not even be able to see the wiring changes when they were put back to std. its neat... not loads of insulating tape everywhere.

its more the warranty side of it that worries me..

as you know these 182's need to be back in every month for fixing of common faults.. and they may refuse to work on it if its been modified.. so need secret mods ;)

just incase anyone wanted to know.. got a reply back from wayne schofield aka chipwizards and he can do full remap on standard ECU..

hes a good mapper and has done quite a lot of cammed 16v saxo's giving out approx 155bhp

id expect costs will be around same price as the saxos were - 450ish quid and most of them were done at jamsport in northampton on their rollers.

and have a nice rough ride, been there done that.

then when it comes to hitting a pot hole like someone on here did and it knackers ya car up.. you cant claim cos the insurance blaim the aftermarket suspensiion..

It doesn't have to be slammed to the ground, and it doesn't have to be hard either.

Just a better quality setup : better springs, and better dampers.

What sort of potholes are you talking about anyway? The ones they have in russia are big enough to swallow a car... but we don't get them here in the UK. :S

Not at all the sportlines and koni set-up as actuall less harsh than the origional set-up. Its far more composed for bumps and potholes than std.

A pot hole that bends your front strut will do that to any suspension set-up. With regards to ins companies blaming it on the lowered suspension im quite sure that the assessor is trying it on (most do). Anyways if his suspension was listed as a mod then there should be no probs..

see that post on here.. some lad went over an unmarked ramp and it basically fucked his car.. and theres been loadsa crap going on with the insurance assesor - his mods are declared. dont think he'd have them asssesor problems on a standard car.

ive been there done it.. had bilstein sport dampers on my old car and pug sport 21mm rear torsion bars and cant be doing with having my teeth rattled out.. especially on the roads round here. rather stick to standard suspension and have a bit of comfort. which isnt exactly true with the cup suspension though.

Wayne Scoefield did my Clio and 2lives, Wayne has his own unit now with rollers, he's based up near Rochdale, top fella really recommend him

Dont compare your previous experience with Sportline /Koni combination on the clio. Its all in the spring as Eibachs are progressive.

Trust me i know i have them on the cup and people have commented on it. It easily as comfy as std suspension but minmal roll and much improve handling and composure over uneven surfaces.

I've seen their ecu maps on their site and they look very similar to the BB ones.

Has anyone had the group n ecu map done at K-tec.....is it any good?
