197 Coilovers won't go lowwwww???

Got some KWv1's fitted the other week, handling is awesome.

It was sitting a little high at the back so I took it to Joe (Pepsi) for adjustment.

Turns out the coilovers are already at their minimum setting and as low as they'll go, so Joe took the spacers out to get it down a little bit more.

Does look better tbf (thanks dude :))

...But surely the idea of coilovers is being able to slam the car on it's arse if required!?

Any idea!?!?!

Cheers,

Ste.

Good idea Luke, seems kinda weird though that they won't go any lower :S

Any idea how and where I could get custom springs??
Yes mate, there is a place in sheffield that fabricates them to whatever rates or whatever you want.

http://www.coilsprings.co.uk/

It costs about 50-60 quid for rear springs depending on the spec you want. They make springs for race bikes etc so they know what they are doing. ring them up and have a chat

Coilovers aren't about going stupidly low.... They are about Improved Handling/Adjustability

What a waste. Spend that much on suspension then drop it so low it won't handle.

Not the best pics, but if required i reckon you can go another 25mm at the front and a good 15mm at the rear easy. I Had to raise mine up from the first time we lowered it. At this hight no scrubbing/rubbing what so ever, and it gets driven hard down the local B roads ;)

Call round next week Ste, I'm a dab hand with the grinder so I'll just lop a couple of coils off for you. Job done.

If you're having it CW'd, you'll need to raise the rear anyway or you'll run out of damper travel at the front, rendering the suspension useless!

I like Low Cars but I wouldn't have stumped up for KW's if it was the main reason for getting them.....Thats why I roll on GAZ's ;)

we can look at some custom Eibach ERS coilover springs if you like. shouldn't be too expensive and is a name you can certainly trust..

Thanks for the advice, I'll see how I get on. It's not a problem to raise it up a bit! :)

Nah mate I'm happy with them, I bought them for trackdays. I was just suprised that they didn't go lower!

Fred knows a KW supplier IIRC, might be worth an email. On a side note, I've been told that KW don't do V2's for the 197, but read an article in Performance Tuner where they reviewed a 197 on V2's?

Thanks, might just do that :)

That is odd tbh, I have no idea myself. These are only poverty-spec V1's anyway! lol

I've not driven a v1'd car, but the v2's are great. Someone's seeing if they can sort out in car adjustability for the dampers:cool:

Nice!

I've gotta get some decent tyres before I can give the V1's a more accurate verdict, I made the mistake of getting Kumho's on the cheap!!

Handling is sharper and the ride is much improved over the H&R springs I had previously, hopefully I'll get to give it some proper abuse soon! :)

Ooooh, Which ones are they? My mate has just had some Hankooks on his 197 £58 a corner and said they're great!

this would interest me too!

i've seen a motor operated system that fits to the top of the strut, fine for the rebound, but the adjuster for the bump on mine is on the bottom of the strut..

if you find anything out please let me know :)

hi to all, i've the same "problem" and next week i change my kw v1 with H&R coilover ...

now: 31.5cm @front and 33.5 @ rear

front is ok, bur rear i want 32!!

i think to change the spring but i don't know if it's a good job so i sell my kw and change with H&R
