197 Cup v 197 Racer

  172cup
This article is in the current Perfromance Car magazine that hit the shelfs yesterday. The article goes into detail on how little the changes are between the Cup and Racer yet give totally different tests of driving. The coverage of the 197 Cup in Performance Car magazine has got me fancying trading the 182 in for a 197.

I read the past issue about the Cup against the Evo, Panda, 350Z etc. and it got a pretty good right up then as well. As for trading your 182... Take one for a test drive.

Many people have gone from a 182 to 197 and also many have stuck with the 182. I myself opted for the 182 over the 197 so it's all down to your personal opinion fella.

I drove one briefly when they where launched and loved the look and feel of the car but I remember thinking it aint that special to drive. At the time I had a Civic Type R and it was very similar to that. The more I seen the 197 Cup the more I like it!

When I come to change next year I think it will either be a 197 or R26. Hoping they may bring a final version 197 out along the Trophy lines. The cool thing with the article is that the Clio Cup Racer has a weight of 1060kg shedding approx 100kg of the normal 197 cup.

i was thinking of the same trade. Went to madeley Heath to look at some asked one of the guys there if it was worth it. He just looked at me for a while and said NO. Good sales technique i must admit.

Said that 197 was bigger more grown up and better put together but not as much fun than my 182 he also said that it would have to be making 225bhp to feel fun again. More power but more weight you decide

There was an article in Performance Car before Christmas where the 197 Cup was footed against the 182 Trophy and they said that the Trophy was just ahead in regard to performance and cornering. I think an RclioR with a massive strip out diet like the R26R would be great, especially if they could be had brand new for 12-14k.
