2002 172, I want to set my alarm off!

I fitted my new amp 8gauge lead earlier.

Had to re-set the dash clock so guessing no matter how hard i tried...the battery was disconnected for a split second!

Anyway, locked my car for 1st time and heard a constant high pitch loud whistle, unlocked and locked again..fine this time round no high pitch noise.

I thought i better check the alarm works (for sake of it), I undid the window a bit, locked/armed the car. waited 1min.... put my hand in front of motion sensor...and no alarm?!!

but the flashing LED near gearstick did pulse really quick with my movements!?

not a sausage in the manual about the alarm

lock it with the button on the key then open it with the lock in the door

I wanted to test my alarm the other day, so sat very still in the car for a minute or two, and it worked fine. If i moved before at least 1.30mintues was up, it wouldnt sound the alarm, but as you found, would just make the light go mental.
