Firstly I will indroduce myself, I'm Cal (@CliosportCal on Instagram)

I have been involved with the modified car scene for just over two years, my first car was a Clio 1.2 which I highly modified visually, slammed very low and made into a 172 rep.

I then stripped the 1.2 back to standard, sold most the parts and part exchanged it for a mk2 VW Caddy which I only owned for a few months, was nothing but nightmares breaking down every week!

So here I am... Back to the Clio life with @Mostro 's old Iceberg Silver 172.

When I purchased this car it already had a few tasteful modifications "Enhancements" including:
- Snappy Re-Trimmed steering wheel,
- KTEC Stealth Catback exhaust,
- KTEC Carbon Splitter
- Eibach Proline springs
- Polybushed Dogbone mount,
- 6x9's in the parcel shelf just to include the audio slightly.

So to start off there were a few bits that needed a little bit of TLC...
Firstly I got new numberplates & debadged the rear,
Secondly I got Jamie @ Prestige Custom Exhausts Leeds to fit new clamps & re-adjust the backbox as it was hanging down a bit low for my liking.

RS Renault Sport mk3 Badge
After this my mk3 sport badge arrived so I fitted the badge to cover up the holes under the clio badge,

Carbon 6D Wrapped Dash Trims & Aftermarket Headunit
I then purchased a Bluetooth Headunit & also bought back the carbon wrapped dash trims I had in my 1.2 and fitted them,

Painted Engine Cover & Window switch surrounds
As we all know the 172 window switch surrounds get very grim and scratched over time! I conquered this by buying a set of already painted Window switch surrounds & a matching engine cover.

Wind Deflectors
For the practicality one of my favourite mods on my 1.2 was my wind deflectors so had to be one of the first mods.

Detailing

As I'm the Leeds based Reseller of all OnItsArse Detailing Products detailing is at my heart and will be a big part of this build!

I started by giving the car a full wash & decontamination, Iron deposit removal, Tar Removal & Clay bar. It then rained so I have yet to get round to polishing or waxing the car unfortunately but hoping to get the shine to the levels of my 1.2 before show season 2019!

I also picked up a 1.2 top dash from a scrapyard in mint condition without the worn sticky centre plastic and fitted this.

For now I need new brakes all round, Few bits of cosmetic damage touching up & then some summer wheels maybe 2118's or something & AD08R tyres (Practicality & they look mega!)
 
So today I have given the carpet a good clean & fitted Renault Sport floor mats

& also gave my headlights another polish as they are pretty bad, think I need to give them a proper referb including sanding them down etc

I managed to bend the arch liner out of the way and fit the sub wiring without removing the wheel eventually!

I find a thick pair of needle nose pliers are better than them w**k plastic Renault tools

I felt I was bending the tool when turning so didnt want to break anything with my big muscles you see ;), the rear ones come off fine just the front ones that seem to be stuck on.
 
So, most of you wont know but I am one of the official resellers for OnItsArse Car Care, I have recently started stocking our newest products the Pink Foam. This is a pink PH Neautral Glitter Snowfoam that has been released in the build up to Cancer Awareness Month to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Yesterday I gave the car a wash using a this dilution of this product followed by our "Green Jelly" Shampoo.

After finishing the washing it unfortunately got too dark for any decent photos.

Today I gave the car a once over using OnItsArse Purple Glaze, a sweet scented Quick Detailer which just helped to add a slight shine and eliminate any dust that had fallen onto the car overnight.

Whilst cleaning the car I noticed one of the fog lights was either not fitted correctly or had snapped. After further inspection the bracket had snapped (Luckily I had a spare set in my garage!) so a replacement got fitted :)

I also purchased Carbon Skinned 2.0 16v Bullets to replace my terribly aged OEM bullets, they have a bit of lacquer peel but still better than the rusty ones that were on before & I will get this sorted over time!

Right so where can I get OE Quality or better bolts and screws for my 172?

So I can gradually replace all the terribly rusted ones whilst doing work on the car to make it easier next time :)
 
AUDIO & STEAM CLEAN

So when I purchased my car it had pioneer 6x9's fitted in the parcel shelf and no rear doorcard speakers.

As an early birthday present I got bought a full set of Pioneer A Series Speakers to improve the general sound quality throughout the car.


I couldn't wait to fit these so I put them in yesterday!

I am still contemplating removing the 6x9's as not really a fan of the look and they're fairly useless now I've got good quality speakers in the rear doorcards.

As well as this I had my engine bay steam cleaned and it came up pretty damn shiney!

So this weekend I had a lovely weekend away for my birthday in the Yorkshire Dales.

I was meant to be going in the lasses Polo 1.4 but she wasnt feeling too well the day we set off so I filled the 172 up with a full tank of V-Power, took the rear seats out and filled the car with all the clothes and stuff for the weekend! As soon as we entered the country roads I was bloody glad I took the 172, it was the first time I had properly been able to blast down windy country b roads and felt like a bloody rally stage!

I got back first thing yesterday morning and the car was filthy! So are lass gave her a good clean but didnt really get any good photos sadly, whilst she was doing this I started trying to fit my spacers.

I managed to fit the 16mm rear spacers & gave the car a deep clean all inside the arches, coating the arch liners whilst there to reduce dirt sticking as much in the future (Hopefully!). When I went to do the fronts I came into a bit of a problem... One of my locking wheel nut bolts was rounded so today I took a trip to Gordons Tyres Wakefield and they got the bolt off, only charging a tenner!

When I got home I then went and fitted the front spacers again cleaning all inside the arches whilst there. (I also had a surprise and found out that I have Goodridge braided front lines!)

Lastly I fitted my ported upper inlet (For looks really as need longer to tackle the tricky lower inlet fitting too!) It was a bit dark by the time I finished so the photo isnt the best:

Brakes, Shocks, Matched Lower Inlet, Decat & 182 Mani next then it'll be time to go to EFI for Chris to work his magic ?

Then down to my local Renault Specialist RS Murray & Son to get booked in for the cars annual service keeping up with the previous history as it's been serviced here for the last 11 years!
