A/C NOT WORKING

hi there just bought a clio 172, 02 plate and i dont think the a/c is working very good the thing is when i press the a/c button it sounds as if the a/c is working but there is no cold air coming out of the vents so i was wondering if anybody had any idea what the problem is?

Have it looked-at by your dealer (if still under warranty).

Sometimes the hot/cold air mixer gets stuck (electronically controlled).

Could also be needing a gas topup.

Also check fuses (not sure if theres one specific to the a/c).

the car is out of warranty,does it need to go to the dealer to get the gas topped up?

Possibly needs regasing like you say. I take it air is actually coming out just not cold air?

Do you hear a clicking noise when you first activate the AC ?

I had a simmilar problem with my 172, whereby you could hit the AC button but there was no click (or spindown after switching the engine off) it turned out to be a leak in the system from one of the pipes. Thankfully it was fixed and re-gassed under warranty.

From what I can remember, re-gassing normally costs about 150 notes !

You may try to have the "air recirculation button" on and try to see if there is any cold air. Also what is the air temperature you set at?

got my a/c working it was just needing re-gased cost me £75 cheers for your replys
