  cock mobile.
I've only skimmed it, but I just wanted to point out that Santa Pod is NOT racing, it's timed 1/4 mile runs not racing.

i work for RBS who own various companies !

im not meaning anything to do with sales and not saying your uninformed. what im saying is there are no targets to reject so many claims. for example :
for every 100 claims made u must make sure 20 of them are rejected. this would be bordering on illegal and the FSA wouldnt look to kindly at it.
but there may be targets such as process the claim within 10 days etc.

I've never had a problem with Flux/Highways in my years of being insured with them and through two claims (one clear cut and the other where the other guy was a bare faced liar).

Never been out of pocket.

As for the fire thing, my mates golf gti combusted on the duel carrageway and his ins co paid out without batting an eyelid, think he was with Elephant.

He's one unlucky guy!

Highway are right up to a point, mechanical failure is never covered. However, the resultant damage should be covered. If, for example you have a blow out, and crash into a tree, if you're comp, they should repair the all the damage, except the tyre that blew out - thats not covered and your responsibilty.

The racing bit it BS too. It will say in his policy booklet that racing/pace making/timing is not covered. However, it is very unlikley it says in his policy booklet, that by using his car in an uninsured manor (ie on track, or @ the pod), that this instantly invalidates the rest of his cover.

However, where he has caused himself a major issue is by "telling a little white lie" to the insurers, this beyong anything wlse will cause him the biggest problem.

Interestingly tho, in his letter from Highway, they advised they have removed the T-piece from the car, and are keeping it as evidence!!! If there are refusing the claim, they have no claim to that property, and therefore that is technically theft. Personally, I'd be using this agaisnt them.

BTW for anyone else who's insured with Highway, don't worry they aren't always that bad! - Just don't lie to them, or any other insurers for that matter!!

I'm quite sure track day organisers and the Pod etc wouldn't like there name to be accociated with amateuer (ie no racing licene) driving and will agree that all track days arn't not racing days as racing is a different situation regards there insurance which doens't cover for this.

I don't see the issue with his track days and pod the car didn't have an accident there and pulled of so why bring that up.

Would they argue if he'd had his car on a RR as surly this is using the cars full power just like the 1/4 mile etc.

But if this person feels they have been treated unfairly, i tell everyone this i know but, the FSA will take the information and give a decision on whether or not Highway should have paid out.

This is very good advice. If you feel the insurer are treating you unfairly or are not happy with the outcome of a complaint the Financial Ombudsman Service are there to advise you as a customer. They will investigate your case and make a ruling, if they side with you then the insurer will be forced to over turn in your favor.

We deal with Highway and have not experienced any major problems with the claim service.

If the car crashed as a result of the driver not caring for the car ie....brake pads worn to nothing or tyres completely bald then the insurer would be right to throw out the claim under care of car clause. They would still have to pay out for any third party damage but may have right of recovery against the policyholder.

Agree with above, We deal with Highway and the claim service is good in the main, if the customer is withholding information or non-dislcoses material facts any insurer will investigate the case.

Highway are only one of the panel of insurers we deal with.

When your renewal comes up give us a shout i'm sure we will be able to offer you a competetive quote with a different underwriter if you are concerned about Highway.

When i ever go to trackdays in the briefing they always say their insurance is void if any timing device is used. So maybe insurance companies have a different interpretation of 'racing..'

Neil @ Greenlight - what is your company's take on the matter? Or is that you're just the broker not the underwriter? (I'm having a dense day today lol)

This case is insured through another broker so i wouldn't like to comment. Plus I don't think we are getting the full facts from the owner.

In my experience Highway are generally very good with claims....They had a bad reputation a number of years ago but things have greatly improved since then. I insure my own car with Highway (civic type R :quiet:)and I have placed a number of my friends with them as well (one of which drives a 172 :D) so im confident in the cover they give and their claims service. If I had any doubt about their integrity I would not of insured myself or friends with them.

If anyone is insured with us and is experiencing problems with Highway or Any other insurer that we placed you with please contact us immediatley. As your broker we are here to help.

To reiterate Highway would not throw out a claim without due reason.
