A few quick 172 cup questions

Bought myself a 172 cup today - chuffed to bits with it

There's a few little "niggles" that I want to tidy up

Wing Mirrors - both of them seem to have loose glass. The mirror itself is solid but the glass wobbles all over the place while driving. Is this something I can glue or should I just get new mirrors

Cup Badge on Doors - Only the drivers door has a "cup" badge on the pillar. I assume it's meant to be on both??

Center display bulb - the center display (the one that shows radio channel etc..) is very dark on the right side - is there a bulb I can replace?

There is also a "knock" when the go pedal is given a sharp prod - from my experiences with 106's it sounds like a lower engine mount. Are these easy to replace and cheap to buy?

Also sorry to go on but... I want to fit harnesses (4 point ones) with my recaros that I have ready to go in. Are there any standard seat belt mounting points suitable for 4 point harnesses?
And when fitted how do you stop the car warning you that you aren't wearing your seat belt? LOL

Thanks in advance (sorry about the long post)

Congrats on the new car!

Yep should be cup badges on each door pillar, not sure if renault still sell them tho!

Theres 2 bulbs in the clock so you just need to replace one.

4 point harnesses, you can use the rear seatbelt mounting points if your taking the back seats out. There is also a hole you can use in the inner door sills for one side of the front mounting points but you will need to drill holes (for eye bolts) in the exhaust tunnel for mounting the other side unless your seat subframes have a harness tab on them.

Knock could be engine mounts or gearbox mount. Between £30 and £80 to replace depending which one it is. Give the engine a hard push with both hands and see if it moves at all. It should be pretty solid!

New cup172 badges can be bought from Renault £17 IIRC.

Centre display has two bulbs (ATM both of mine are shot)

Knock will more then likely be a fecked engine mount. Easy fix.

Renault/ Renault specialist can sort your seat belt light out.

Renault do still sell the badges, common myth :)

About £12 each

Do the badges just come off with a bit of hot kettle water - like the 106 stuff does? As I may just remove the one thats one there.. not sure yet

Harnesses sound like the 106 then - 3 mounting points but 4th is a hole through tunnetl - shame as I didn't want to drill. I may get some mounting points welded to my recaro subframes instead

Is the seatbelt light a renault laptop reprogram job then?

Are there any guides for replacing the bulbs in the dash - is a haynes manual worth buying for the car?

Any idea about the mirrors?? Driving me nuts LOL

Thanks for the quick help - have to say so far, coming from a 106 gti I'm quite chuffed with it :D

pics of cup :)

Ive only got one from the service station on way back - taken with my iPhone rather than my dSLR - so it's a s**t photo :(

The seatbelt light? You mean by the clocks.... hmmmmm not sure. If you ditch the standard seats/belts you'll get an airbag light on the dash, as the seatbelt plugs have pretentioners in them. You'll need some resisitors to turn them off (anything from 3-6 ohms should suffice)

Badges are just stuck on

No point with haynes now you have joined up on here.

There is a dash removal guide on here somewhere.

Yeah had same problem with the 106 - but took the safety ECU out LOL

Sounds like a bit of a pain - is there no-one on here running harnesses in a 172?

Oh you can get 182 cup door pillar badges - renault managed to order them in for me initially instead of my 172 cup stickers.

F. Cross in scunthorpe will have some in i'd imagine, as they won't have been returnable to renault.

Schweppy - legend mate - thanks for that

I think I'll get some harness holes welded to inside of the recaro subframes to save drilling the shell - and I'll do a search and try to find the resistor specs :D

Not sure if it's been mentioned in the thread because I haven't read all the posts but to knock that silly beeping off when the seatbelt warning light is on.

There's a sensor that plugs in to the drivers side seat buckle, just undo the front cover by undoing the small torx screws and you'll see the sensor, simply unplug it then reattach the front cover on the seat buckle.

Recently priced up door pillar badges at Renault and they were 12.75 each.

3.3ohm is what I used when I had my Mk2 to turn the airbag/pretensioner light off with non-standard seats fitted.
